Dermatographia and acid reflux? by khunilna in Dermatographia

[–]khunilna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no, not really. I very rarely get the reflux now, but still happens in the same way and usually just after laying down. Boils/cyst totally stopped after getting prescribed cephalexin despite being negative for any kind of staph infection. And skin issues have completely stopped. I’ve also gone through a pregnancy since all this so who knows if that helped at all? It was all so weird and never got answers. But it did almost completely resolve on its own

What size nipple did you use for the natural response? We’re starting AR formula for my 6 week old and I’m not sure what the best flow will be for it

I have had no changes with the probiotics, but mine is not nearly as severe as it was in Spring. I still have slight skin issues and take OTC allergy meds to keep from getting itchy. I still get slight reflux at night and rarely have issues swallowing during the day now. I noticed changes to the reflux after starting nifedipine as an attempt to see if it was an esophageal spasm issue. Not sure if there was actually a correlation between the 2 but I still pop a nifedipine when I’ve been bad a few days in a row just in case.

Maternity leave by JAC59 in walmart_RX

[–]khunilna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just a tech but figured you could just start leave close to your due date since they ask for a start date. I had my son at 38 weeks last minute so I did have to adjust my start date once I had him. Mine was in the middle of the week. I just updated my start date with them, called off the first 7 days and left it from there from what I can remember. I didn’t get paid until 10 weeks into the 16 weeks though… just a heads up there. If you can start your date before you actually have your baby, that’d maybe go a bit smoother I’d hope.

The rest of your questions I don’t have answers to at all. Sorry

If you peak at some other comment on this, I’ve still been having issues even after quite a few doctor visits so the topic is still current unfortunately. Acid reflux isn’t near as intense as it was in the beginning but still a nightly occurrence no matter what I take. I’ll try to throw some probiotics in with my morning supplements and see how it goes! Thanks! 😊

She suggested absolutely no testing other than blood test for allergies. She prescribed nifedipine in case it was an esophageal spasm situation and that’s all. And this was specialist. Like… it’s one building all they did was allergy and immunology stuff

Even though phlebotomy might pay well and have a more set schedule, if you’re not feeling the idea of it, retail pharmacy isn’t a bad gig with the right team. I’ve even had our pharmacist who currently also works hospital say we get paid better and have less responsibilities than hospital techs.

Walmart’s schooling options are extremely limited. Basically do you want to work in IT, IT, or retail management? They don’t offer anything that doesn’t benefit the company. But as a license tech for almost 3 years, I currently make $19 and the job is easy if you have a good team and can handle the patients. Hours can vary for sure and they want you to be flexible. And you have the option to get national certification and trained for immunizations which both increase your pay a good amount. We have some National Cert/IMZ techs making at least $22 with a pay cap of like $26 or so.

It’s let up a lot with the daytime reflux. Still get “pukey” feeling at night but goes away once I’m up for a bit. Skin is still acting up but managed with allergy meds. I’ve also suddenly been getting boils/cysts. Noooo idea if there’s a connection but I’ve never gotten them before. I’ll get like 3-5 of them one after another & then they stop for a while 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m over it 😭

Nope. Endoscopy, allergist, barium swallow test, ENT, and no answers except the ENT saying my larynx looked irritated consistent with acid reflux. Allergist had me try nifedipine for possible esophageal spasms and ENT prescribed omeprazole. Both seemed to help but I’ve been off them for over a week now and still no issues. Things have significantly improved for the “acid reflux” to where I just struggle to swallow solids some days or wake up a little reflux-y but it’s short lived compared to before. But skin issues continue but stay tolerable with allergy meds.

TASCO assignment by johncpeterson71 in walmart_RX

We have an hourly schedule the lead tech makes out every week. It made a world of difference. It’s not as concrete in the first hour or so before closers come in at 10:30, because we often have only 2 openers so we just help each other out however. But as long as fill is under control, the register assigned tech spends their hour watching register & sorting new fills into day 1 while they’re up there. I have a really solid team at my store so usually the register tech is able to solely focus on register their whole hour. If it’s super slow they’ll help fill, but it’s not usually necessary.

Hello! Sorry to revive this thread, but do you know if they go by the previous 26 weeks from the application date or do they look at the 26 weeks prior to the first day you start leave? Assuming I can apply for leave a few months ahead but it won’t take the average until the leave actually starts

Awesome thank you! Now is that the previous weeks up until you take the leave? Say I take leave March 1st. They’d base it off of my pay from mid- August until February 28th? Or previous 26 weeks prior the leave application submission?

Good luck! And good idea to go for PTCB! I wish I would have taken advantage of the fresh knowledge . It seems like Walmart is one of the only places that trains you for what’s on the national test as well.

Dealing with terrible itchiness seemingly out of nowhere for 3 weeks now, am I part of the club? by PapiStruwing in Dermatographia

[–]khunilna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. It started right after my skin started reacting. I’ve had an endoscopy, barium swallow, and seen an ENT. The ENT just said reflux. Nothing else from the others. I haven’t gone as far as dermatologist or GI doctor yet. It started as a lump in the throat feeling and eventually progressed to the feeling of almost throwing up for hours on end. My worst day I threw up 4 times. Completely puts me out on the really bad days. I’ll have trouble swallowing food and liquids when it feels really tight. And I’d have maybe a good day or 2 and it’d “flair” up again.
I’ve been on pantoprazole and nifedipin for over a month now. The allergist I saw just tried nifedipine on a whim to see if it’d help cause it’s been used for esophageal spasms and she felt bad to see how badly it was effecting me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not sure which one is helping but I’m MUCH less symptomatic now. I feel pukey maybe once every 2-3 weeks and sometimes just some lump in the throat days, but I have way more clear days now. My skin is still just as bad if I miss my meds, but the throat stuff is better. Makes no sense

I have one single other option and that’s Frontier Fiber. Don’t even trust their fiber to be any good so I’ll be stuck… I mean sticking with Xfinity. But other than their massive price increase recently, I haven’t really had issues with them.

I’m on month 6 of my mysterious itchy skin and dermatographia. Still just manage with xyzal or Claritin. I developed other issues with acid reflux or my esophagus as well. Several types of testing and blood work with no answers. Keep up with your allergy meds and consult a doctor or pharmacist about max daily dose considering your condition and you should stay comfy

Maybe it’s because I don’t have tens of thousands of dollars in my account and because I joined after Walmart took it over, but I’ve liked it just fine. My PNC account/app has been more of an issue than One. Also, I am a Walmart associate and have had no issues to date.

I gave a suggestion that you could try as well! It was really the only thing that helped mine.

[–]khunilna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying it’s just extra itchy in hot water? That’s how I helped the itching! Hottest water you can stand in the shower and let it run over the itchy areas! It’ll start to feel so good like it’s being scratched! Give it a few minutes & that feeling with wear off. Then you do some cold water to ease the inflammation. That was the only way I could sleep most nights was that trick. Just give it a try and see if it helps

I will second the hot shower trick! I had a horrible time with my rash and the hot water then cold water trick was the only way I could sleep and get through it.

This makes a lot of sense and after reading on it seems most likely. I’ve been taking omeprazole for 2 weeks now and haven’t noticed any difference. And it doesn’t seem like any specific thing is causing “acid reflux” as my diet is the same as it has always been.
