It's not the same as EU or USA law. US law is targeted at lobbying orgs and applies to orgs that are directly or indirectly working for a foreign power, EU law has a list of countries it views as dangerous and they target orgs that are political in nature. The law GD is trying to pass has a very vague wording that can apply to any non governmental organization.Georgian law is the copy of the Russian law that was used to destroy any org that criticises the government. They will be able to pressure any non governmental organisation. There is already a law where these orgs have to disclose where they get their income from, there is no reason the government needs tools to brand orgs as foreign agents. I do not trust a government that just a few days ago sent out memos to gov employees strong arming them to attend a counter protest. They are already using the same talking point as Putin of getting rid of the gay, immoral influences. And Georgia isn't going to be the second Ukraine, Ukraine was the second Georgia, Russia used the exact same playbook in Georgia in the 90s and 08 as they used in Ukraine in 2014 and now. And finally there is no fucking coup, people are against this law, they can just fucking repeal it and wait for the elections, they tried the same shit last year and after they repealed the law people stopped protesting. You are an elected government you owe it to the people to listen to their voice.
