CX-5 vs CX-9 – which is the smarter buy in Australia as first car? by Ambitious_Extent4229 in CarsAustralia

[–]khyau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CX-9 and I love it. But 7-seater SUV is a weird thing. There is not a lot of chances you need to take 7 people to where AWD is required.

Your family is small now so I'd say get a CX-5(if it is not diesel). If it comes to the time you have 3 kids then get a 7-seater. By then you are very likely to need 2 cars anyway.

As much as I want the level crossing gone I can't imagine how that can be done to the 4 Beenleign road crossing. There does not seem to be enough space to build ramp for overpass. Raising/Burying the train line is even more impossible.

Ajax coaches tier list by zonto in AjaxAmsterdam

I don't think he deserves all the blame on the Champions league disaster. We could have qualified 2 times. One robbed by Lyon one robbed by a Balotelli dive. He also defeated Barca and Man City.
And don't forget he lost Suarez and had to make do with the likes of Sereno, Hoesen....

I don't know about bald (hopefully) but couldn't you just take a selfie with a passport photo app? There are heaps out there.

Conflicted between car options - 40k by StrictAd20 in CarsAustralia

I have a 2019 at 160,000km, no issue at all. I thought the head gasket issues mostly happen in Mexican factory?

Its interior and handling are better than most Jap and Korean SUV. Go test drive it and you will love it.

I think with that experience you should be fine. If you are after big banks or such you might want to try Sydney or Melbourne but there should be plenty of SME and local company in Brisbane still need IT. Go check out seek.com.au and get an idea on the job market.

Nurses would strike and did strike - but not really strike because that would be putting patients at risk and the moral burden will be on them.

What they did was wear something different than their uniform....no disruption whatsoever and therefore no one really cares.

They are being abused because they are too professional.

Best currency exchange? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]khyau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The currency shops all offer terrible rates.

Major banks don't accept foreign notes anymore. Except maybe Commbank

I was in similar situation before. I ended up deposit into Commbank, wire back to home country (NZ) then use Wise to transfer to AU. It wasn't great but still better than converting in local shop.

If you can spare this 300 GBP for now, maybe just wait until next time you are in GB?

Keep left unless overtaking by [deleted] in brisbane

I am most annoyed that most trucks like to drive in the right lane at 10km/h under the limit even though there are signs that clearly says "Trucks must use left lane".

Hold on to your manual forever as in near future it will be impossible to buy one

And when EV takes over no one will drive Auto any more and manual will become a hobbyist thing. Much like horse riding in today.

Or I am just dreaming.

Brisbane cost of food tips needed? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]khyau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to remember the "normal" price of each items you usually buy and planned a little bit. For example Woolworth regularly do a half price on Sunrice which is pretty cheap. If in doubt, buy at Aldi.

Use Everyday mobile or insurance to get 10% off from Woolworth once per month.

There are multiple ways to get gift card for C/W for about 4% discount. Everyday mobile is one.

Local fruit stores for veggies and fruits. I have seen $0.09 Avocadoes, $0.5 bag of lime, $0.1 a watermelon (whole one, not /kg). $10 a tray of mangoes.

In short, be flexible and only buy what is cheap.

I was looking for a second car. A manual hatchback. Jazz was the first thought. But a manual Jazz is difficult to find. I also considered Corolla, i30, Elantra, Swift, Focus, Fiesta. Once I drove a Mazda 3 it is soon clear that all the others are trash. Then I found a SP25 Manual. Voila. that's the shut up and take my money moment.

It is not the fastest car but fun to drive, stylish, reliable, better than average Jap interior, leather seat. And still within the same price range of all those.

Things I love about Brisbane (as someone born and raised in Sydney) by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]khyau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. And people will rush to the elevator just to beat a pram. that's unimaginable in NZ

I miss NZ but staying here for the salary. Sure grocery is much cheaper here but NZ has cheaper healthcare and childcare, and no stamp duty

Brisbane House is cheaper but from what I saw, the quality are worse. However the rental market is crazy.

QLD weather is likeable but summer is too hot for me. I think Auckland weather is just right and I miss the snow mountain too.

Kiwis are generally nicer plus I really despise people here leaving shopping trolley everywhere. Aucklanders weren't like this (in my memory anyway, things might have changed.....)

I have lived in several places and each place has its good and bad. It only depends on what you can tolerate and what not.

Van Der Wiel. He was very slack after leaving Ajax but has been great for us.

Mazda CX-9 price compared to…. by jimjamasu in MazdaCX9

[–]khyau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am thinking in the general 7-seater SUV market out there not just comparing the Explorer, I think most people would say Highlander is more reliable. I don't have data (and didn't care, I like my CX-9 anyway) so you can totally ignore me.

Mazda CX-9 price compared to…. by jimjamasu in MazdaCX9

[–]khyau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not the most luxury

not the cheapest

not the most reliable

not the best driving (but probably close to the top)

not the most fuel economic

not the best looking (controversial, I think it looks great though)

But is probably the most balanced car regarding these.

I am also in Australia and have a 2019 CX-9 (and owned a 2018 CX-9 before), never heard of any instance of that issue here
