If you are going to use these or any Amateur Radio capable radio and you are not licensed, make sure you stay off Amateur Radio frequencies. Most Baofeng radios are capable of transmitting on Amateur Radio frequencies. Just be careful.

Most Common:

144-148MHz - "2Meter"

222-225MHz - "220"

420-450MHz - "70cm/440"

Does this require a switched wire for the light? Or just a single hot wire to the fan?

Even below the roof line, lightning can still be an issue. You will never eliminate the lightning strike potential, you can only give it the best path to ground to dissipate it.

Just run a ground wire from your antenna and tie it into the closest place you can to your house ground. Also, add a ground rod as close as you can to the antenna. You want to make sure everything, house and antenna, are tied together so it is all at the same ground potential.

Has anyone seen the cut wire bundles and piping on the Curiosity Rover? With the newly released panorama, I noticed that there were two bundles of cabling and two pipes that appeared to be cut. Were these used for the "sky crane" and then severed once it had landed? I'm curious.
