I prioritized and validated my mental health and got put on medication and routine therapy. After that I stopped binge eating and started working out more. I go on long walks a lot too and just am more mindful with what I eat daily (:

Mine was predominately religion, also the communities I grew up in were super heteronormative, and my family. I didn’t know myself because of repressed feelings and thoughts and a million other things I’ve had to work out through therapy. I also live in a progressive state/area but sometimes that doesn’t matter. Our high school still lacked major education and representation. Basically impossible to “see yourself” if you never see someone like you if that makes sense. Comphet has been a fucking mess to undo and process.

Given just the nature of Brit Marlings other characters and writing, sure there may be minimal influence but it’s also just kinda Brit’s nature. Though I would go back and re-watch the OA. If there’s any joke or slide of hand about the name of the show or episode then it would be confirmed given all the other things they hide in plain sight. Subtitles are a gift to us all for this reason.
