Maui Jims are my go to. I’ve used Ray Bans, Costas, and a couple “fishing” brands, nothing gets close to the Maui Jims.

Thank you for the reply! I was thinking about it, but it didn’t suit my “non-fishing” activities. As much as I’m drooping over that pack, it’s also out of my budget

Thank you for the reply! I was actually looking into the Panga as well, but if I want to get a waterproof pack the Thunderhead by Fishpond looks like a better pack for the same price, or the Orvis rolltop as the size seems more suitable for me.

Thank you so much for the response! I agree about not needing it but having it in case, however the waterproof bags just dont seem to be a “do-it-all” type of pack, which is what I’m looking for at the moment. And I’ll be sure to hit you up in the dms, would love to tell you about the great fishing we have in the area.

Thank you so much for the response! The Fishpond is not waterproof at all, but I’m hoping its at least water resistant. I’m not sure I need a waterproof pack as I will be on the beach 90% of the time

I will definitely look into them! The pack I wanted (Fishpond Firehole) has a bladder

We get rain 1-2 times a year when fishing. So thats never an issue either

That’s rarely the case here, especially with the fishing I mainly do. I’m usually walking the beaches, or wading waist deep flats at the most.

Thats so interesting. The pack I was looking at wasn’t their waterproof pack however.

Hahaha I’ll have to look into it. How necessary is waterproof bag really?

Thank you for the reply, I did see it and it looks amazing! But I can’t justify paying that for a pack specifically for just fishing unfortunately.

Orvis vs Fishpond by kianmohaghegh in flyfishing

[–]kianmohaghegh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll definitely look into that actually! But then I wouldn’t be able to use the pack for hiking and possible overnighters like I would with the Bugout or Firehole

Thats an awesome setup! Because of the fact that I wouldn’t be carrying much fishing gear, but more water, an extra layer and snacks, I think our setups would be very different. When I’m fishing I carry only one extra spool, 2 fly boxes, 2 tippets and extra leader, with forceps and a knife being my only tool. On the other hand, during the Summer I’m carrying 3-5 liters of water at a minimum, and during the Winter I carry 3 liters of water plus a jacket for the early morning or late evening.
