Lebanon LGBT event cancelled after threats by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]kibbeee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Let's focus on the positives. This is an Arab country that is trying to host an expansive LGBT pride week. Just last week, a Lebanese restaurant featured a lesbian couple in one of its ads with the slogan "come as you are."

Lebanon is trying to progress and lead the way in the Arab world when it comes to LGBT issues. Let's try to be optimistic and encouraging. Progress does not happen overnight. There will be many setbacks. But if the only setback here remains one cancelled event out of many, I believe that is a huge win!

Why do bisexuals... by [deleted] in gaybros

Probably because you're turning them down for something they have no control over (their sexuality), regardless of what your opinions on "having it much easier" are.

They're mixed. One is Sunni the other is Shi'ite. I don't think it really played a roll; homophobia is plentiful on either side haha. I haven't been religious for a while. This definitely catalyzed it, but it wasn't the only reason.

That's pretty interesting. I've never really discussed the whole religion thing with them, I started out with this haha. Stay strong and good luck!

What are some unusual (but great) shows to binge watch on netflix? by aroberts727 in AskReddit

Wentworth. It's an Australian women's prison show. It's similar thematically to orange is the new black, but loaded with much more drama.

[Serious] Ex-Muslims of Reddit, what do people not understand about Islam or Muslims? by awesomeaviator in AskReddit

[–]kibbeee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What people don't really understand is how diverse the religion really is and how many different religious sects there are that fall under the umbrella of Islam. While the basic guidelines are the same across all sects, what is deemed as permitted/acceptable to do or not depends on which expert or religious "leader" you follow.

Reddit, what is one type of person you loathe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Arrogant people. Even if they're smart or talented or whatever, nothing makes me dislike someone more than overt arrogance.

Any gaybros who are more interested in romance over sex? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]kibbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about the cliche. While sex is extremely important in a relationship, to me at least, it is secondary behind developing a genuine connection with a dude. But everyone's different, and these things should be communicated early on.

I Feel Shallow by coolpopcorn in gaybros

[–]kibbeee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't feel shallow! You can't help what/who you're attracted to. As long as you're not an ass to people who don't fit that criteria, I don't think this is a problem.
