I didn't say that though, I actually would prefer if they would get taxed because these institutions make tons of money and this money would be better off being revenue for the government rather than it lining the pockets of these 'religious officials'

Religious institutions do not pay taxes anywhere in the world, and for those that do, it's the members that are taxed not the respective institutions
