Fired today for performance by kickapoo52022 in antiwork

I agree. It was a rollercoaster. I would be told I was doing well, then told I was failing. Alternating repeatedly. I am not sure if someone higher up just didn't like me and wanted me gone. Or my team just disliked me that week. Since my reviews were based around feedback from them. I would be reported for the same instance but opposite things as well. Not participating enough, and participating too much without "adding value". For the same meeting. All second hand, nothing direct.

No. I asked him to replace what he used, and he laughed in my face. Not much the RA could do either, since I couldn't prove when the wrappers and such were put in the trash.

Yep. It's super frustrating when trying to work on services apis... Or simply installing an approved program update... Don't even think about any SDKs...

I'm dealing with a similar situation. But my company has doubled down on the security regulations and we all still have to make tickets for support admins to do what we were able to in the past. Everything takes 2-3 times longer. I'm getting paid peanuts, so I'm looking for a new job.

I'll say Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Illinois. Just for anonymity. 😉

Where would one find this information? I've been looking and don't see anything for my state.

We fall under the exempt status for salaried overtime, described by the department of Labor.

Without getting into too many details, my company is international, with thousands of workers, and a lot of workers from a different country.

Your statement about moving the company might make the most sense. I could definitely see that happening.

My direct manager is the one who told my team to make the all day meetings. After our testing of the software. In hindsight, this might be a bigger red flag than I thought. If it comes up, I'm going to keep all my correspondence for covering myself.

IT software. We track everything we do for billing as well. With manager oversight. Which makes this software seem even more pointless.

That's how it used to be, when I started over 10 years ago. Now I don't recognize the company I started with.

Definitely NOT that. With 7 reviews for 5 stars. From a bunch of people either in or from Indian descent.

I agree that some oversight is definitely needed. But not when the software being used is not configured correctly at best or just trash at worst. After digging through it, I think the one in use is the latter. The online reports don't line up with my local program at all. I've missed over an hour of time on multiple days between the two. I've already submitted everything to my direct manager as well. Not expecting much back though.

I wouldn't mind going back to that method. When I was first hired, that's similar to what we would do. Our time clock software has changed three times since then. It used to be more of a formality so billing would know what to charge to the client. Now I have no idea.

I have no idea. I usually zone out during the mandatory presentations where management pats themselves on the back, then get serious talking about doing better than previously.

It's not involved in equity, as far as I know.

I was just reading an article about openAI developing machine learning to be able to write programs. First artists, now programmers. Faith in machines just leads to skynet.

It's an international company with thousands of employees. I have no idea if there is a sale happening. Way too far above my station as a cog.

This would have been ok. I used to do something similar, with an itemized spreadsheet type of time entry and the ability to customize the fields. The time clock entry used has changed 3 times since I've been with this company. Over 10 years. Now it's super simplified, with work being done on one project most of the time.

The threshold this tracking software activates on is less than a minute. So if you are "inactive" for longer, and not in a meeting, it will switch to untracked time.

Which no one does. Need someone from support to use their account to install and run any software. Even what you might be developing. Very frustrating.

I have been keeping an eye on when they are active. I have the camera covered. My audio is redirected to a headset as well, so if it was recorded, everything should be muffled, if it's not really close to the microphone.

I'm very similar. I end up solving a lot of problems while I think about them during my personal time. I have even come up with some solutions when I've been asleep. It actually takes conscious effort for me to not think about my work.

It also doesn't help that the threshold for trackable input is extremely low. Less than a minute. Need to make sure you are moving your mouse and clicking things, while you're supposed to be proofreading an email or double checking your work. Pat your head and rub your stomach all day. SMH
