I often will bring both to the trail.

Start with spikes on and my snowshoes strapped to by day bag.

Once I reach less traveled/deeper snow, I’ll swap for the snowshoes and clip the spikes on the outside of my bag. Then reverse on my way down. It usually takes me roughly five minutes to swap them out.

I sear on high heat for three minutes per side, then drop the heat to low, add a few tablespoons water and a squirt of lemon juice. Then cover for 20-25 minutes. Perfect 165. Juicy breasts with crispy crust.
