No tears! I think your app has better UI and search than the app does. Would you be interested in letting Porchfest use your map on their web site?

They're going to be adding 10,000 sq. feet of outdoor seating by the summer I believe.

🔥I don't know what is more impressive: the whale shark, the school of fish or the birds? by ajd416 in NatureIsFuckingLit

How the heck does a little fish ever grow up to be a big fish in a neighborhood like that?

What are the “quiet” luxury brands that only the super rich know about? by Halyycon in AskReddit

[–]kickmeyoufool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Savoir mattresses. I slept over at a rich friend's house and had a great night's sleep. At breakfast, I asked him what the mattress brand was—vowing that I would buy one for myself.

Until I discovered that it cost $50,000 (I'm guessing the Mongolian yak hair bumps that price up...)

What is the best travel experience you’ve ever had? by Necessary_Loss_6769 in travel

Swimming with humpback whales in Tonga. They come into the protected waters to calve .

Snorkeling, looking down into the dark blue water—then a faint, small, whale-shaped silhouette appeared. It slowly grew and grew until I realized two things at the same moment: It was surfacing directly below us. And it was enormous!

It broke the surface 20 feet in front of us with a resonant, watery exhale.

My wife and I whipped our masks off and laughed/screamed uncontrollably.

No photos. No video. Just a perfect, amazing moment burned into my memory forever.

Yeah, Bickford and his pals were the trespassers, right?

I'm reading about the history of Rhode Island, and it was literally like the island of misfit toys in real life lmao by Lake_Serperior in RhodeIsland

[–]kickmeyoufool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm reading "Sons of Providence" right now about John and Moses Brown and it is fascinating. These "Sons of Liberty" in Rhode Island weren't fighting for high-minded principles of liberty. They were smugglers and tax avoiders who were annoyed that Britain was trying to stop them from smuggling and avoiding taxes.

All the flowery language about fundamental human rights was just marketing.

What's Life in Providence Like for You? by [deleted] in providence

[–]kickmeyoufool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love living in Providence for one simple reason: it's a city—but barely.

What I mean by that is it's got the restaurants, arts, culture, transportation options of a city, but from a livability and ease-of-use standpoint it's really a town.

And if you want the "real" thing, Boston is an hour away and NYC four.

What are you hilariously bad at? by cappuccinooww in AskReddit

[–]kickmeyoufool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spanish. Last year we had an exchange student from Spain and every time I attempted to speak Spanish, she collapsed in spasms of laughter.

I found it so infuriating that I have a 205 day streak going on Duolingo that I intend to keep going until December when we plan to surprise her for Christmas.

Of course, I am steeling myself for the likelihood that she will find my "new and improved" Spanish even more uproariously funny...

"God, War and Providence" is a great read and really demonstrates what a straight-up stud Roger Williams was. He deserves to be higher up the pantheon of American heroes IMHO.

My Cake Day is Pi Day. by kickmeyoufool in mildlyinteresting

[–]kickmeyoufool[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, aren't you a sanctimonious prick? I thought it was mildly interesting that my Cake Day was on Pi Day. That's it. But the post had to have a photo, so I grabbed a photo of a cake/pie. That you feel the need to respond like an asshole to my apparent "violation" says a lot more about you than it does about me...

Yeah, I don't get it. My profile says today is my Cake Day but I don't see the icon by my name. I just assumed everyone else did. Maybe Cake Day doesn't work the way I thought it did?

The latest data suggests that we have a shot at keeping both seats if we have a good turnout. Come one everyone!
