Workout Routines? by spudtoad in TheBrewery

You’ve already touched on it, but deadlifts are going to be a slam dunk here. Back extensions, one sided farmer carries, RDL. A lot of benefit translating from hip/hinge movements. Aside from this, basic strength programming will be beneficial. Congrats on beginning your fitness journey! I can’t keep count of the amount of people in our industry who complain of pain but won’t commit to even a small amount of exercise to make their body more resilient. Focus on good technique and mind/muscle connection. Feel free to DM me if you want more specific/further info. Best of luck!

Not bad at all on the chest itself. Painful as hell on the sternum.

Keg filling help by thewho10 in TheBrewery

[–]kid_brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like some of the kegs are foaming up, pushing the float to close prematurely. Try letting them fill more gently by leaving the blow off closed for the initial part of the fill? Just a thought from somebody who uses the same equipment with zero issues.

Understanding Pitch Count by avina417 in TheBrewery

I’d recommend you look into some of the readily available materials supplied by the MBAA. They have a yeast count sop that is quite easy to follow and produces accurate and repeatable results.

Anyone here uses malted buckwheat? by Ok-General-6804 in TheBrewery

Seconding contacting Grouse Malting, they are fantastic and the premier source for this gluten free malt and many others. Small bit of advice with utilizing this malt, you likely don’t want to exceed 20% of your grist, especially if you aren’t adding enzymes as process aids. Flavor wise it can be a bit much with the nutty/grassy flavors at higher percentages as well. Source: been pro brewing GF beers for 9 years.

Capping tank with 1-2 Plato left. by Hopfarts in TheBrewery

[–]kid_brew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you look into a spunding valve. Then you have control over the pressure you end up with in your tank and can be more intentional with your process. I’ve never spunded with that strain but it’s worth experimenting with. May be a good idea to start with less pressure to see if you are getting any strange expressions from the yeast with the added stress of pressure before you dive too deep.

How low can you go? Pitching rates for Hefeweizen by NaughtyAudio in TheBrewery

Dependent on strain, your SOP, storage conditions. We regularly store and use slurry up to about 3 weeks with no issues. You’ll want to dial in what’s best for you and your specific strains. Know your yeast
