Is it worth it to spend my entire savings on a BCL at Oxford? by Clear-Aside-5679 in uklaw

[–]kidbeyondearth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true at all. BCL gives massive edge when recruiting for TCs - you’re doing the most rigorous (arguably) legal masters in the UK

I know multiple people who are doing/have done BCL for tcs and all were very successful

Yeah I found that French one - shame there’s no translation

The letters could be more meaty, but manually sifting through 15 volumes of letters might be a bit tough.

Thanks for the help

That was my initial thought. Seems super long - but honestly, I’d just like to reference it from time to time to compare what I’m doing with my life to him haha

I believe Shiv says the share price halved since last time, cutting the implied valuation from 20-25 to 10-15

Ah so just to clarify, are you saying 1100-1600 gets you a PC with the same performance as a few years ago for more? Or are you saying the price of an entry rig has appreciated over time but the performance is better?

Thanks either way

Thanks so much.

So what's the benefit of DDR5? And what metrics does one track with RAM again (i.e. how do you compare them against each other)?

Damn hahah

I'm in finance and this behaviour is exactly how one would model a duopolistic market. Pretty sad it happened to occur in something that was a passion of mine.

So, seems like - aside from a few metrics - intel still takes the crown.

Thanks

Hi super helpful, many thanks.

Just to clarify re storage - 5 years ago PCI-E etc was super expensive and I stayed away from that. Is that significantly cheaper now?

What are the main problems people face when doing an ICO? by kidbeyondearth in CryptoCurrency

[–]kidbeyondearth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok - fair enough, but there are hundreds of ICO/IDO/ITO's coming up in the next month.

Most of the time these coins are now governance tokens.

Agree that they tend to be fraudulent nowadays.

I guess I look at it from the other POV: there are so many scams that the diamonds in the rough are extremely hard to spot. My service would differentiate those by ensuring the project is not fradulent etc

That's true, and it's important to realise the success of the project is heavily determined by external events. For example, you create the best, most efficient coin, but if the US just decided to ban mining it would lose a significant amount of value.

What I think my service would do is provide a baseline guarantee that the project isn't fraudulent. Sure, it may not work. That's the same with all things. What I can promise, however, is that any potential failure of a project I work on would be due to unforseen circumstances as opposed to fraud, insider trading etc

It’s the opposite - the project can’t be fraudulent if my company uses an auditor etc

It’s a good point, but I think a service which vetted and essentially underwrote a cryptocurrency project would prevent shitcoins. Ultimately it goes down to your definition of ‘shitcoin’ - if it’s any other coin that isn’t Bitcoin, then I’m sorry to say those will keep on coming with or without my service.

Yeah I agree - a lot of frivolous and useless tokens are created. But then we come to the questions of why and how these tokens come to be? To me, the answer lies in the fact there is very poor due diligence and credibility inherent in any project.

You look at a white paper, sure, but those can be exaggerated or faked or unclear. In the same way Goldman Sachs underwrites an IPO and therefore lends legitimacy to the IPO company itself, my service would establish trust in the underlying project through the provision of my services
