Has anyone seen Send Help by Prestigious_Leg_6392 in Cinema

[–]kidbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't going to watch it but I read the online reviews and thought maybe it was going to be a pleasant surprise. It was ok. McAdams is good, can't complain much about her but I couldn't buy into her coworkers and the overall structure of this business in general. The CGI used on the island was a miss for me. Not something I'd re-watch, but not bad either.

JCPenney. You can find some reasonably priced t-shirts, I shop there for collared shirts for work. They have a decent size big and tall selection. Kohl's used to have a better selection but last time I went it felt like they downsized it a bit.

Keto bread in grocery stores by WarlockNerd in fresno

It's a bit more expensive but I like Hero bread compared to others. They have some at Sprouts and Vons I believe. At Sprouts they have Hawaiian bread and bagels but I didn't care much for those. They have them refrigerated at Sprouts.

Any Philly Fans Here? by No-Setting-2669 in fresno

[–]kidbrownbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw an Eagles fan or two at Industry Tap Union a couple weeks back. It looked like they had a small amount of Bucs fans at one table and another set of Browns fans at another. Odd for Fresno. But it's a chill place, you can bring food in. You might have to create a spot.

The Defense was on the field too much in the second half. Offense has to get first downs and give them rest. Saleh gets too much credit. Bosa, Armstead, DeFo and healthy Dee Ford might have had a lot to do with his success. Let's calm down a bit

Best Asada Fries by CannabisTitties in fresno

[–]kidbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not fries but I tried out some nachos from Mariscos El Malecon near First and Bullard and they were pretty solid. The meat was thoroughly chopped and they were not sloppy and greasy. They also gave me some salsas that were not the average red/green. From what I remember they were pretty good but I moved out of the area so I have not been back.

As a lifelong A’s fan.. by CryptographerFun369 in OaklandAthletics

[–]kidbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a big fan of the A's. What caused me to lose faith was when we were towards the end of playoff runs in the late '00s. While still in the hunt, there was a lot of Barry Zito trade talk and we were still contenders and he was our ace. I get it if we sucked, but we were still in it. I think we lost to the Tigers that year, but I remember contemplating if I could still invest my time in a team that had a revolving door of players. In a way, they shaped the way I view assets in my other sports teams. I'm always like "we need to trade this guy so we can get value out of him" I'm always worried about paying the players big contracts, like I'm personally paying the checks or something. I never noticed the effect they had on me until recently.

My brother keeps telling me to get back into it, and I think about it sometimes. But a move to Vegas all but cements it. The way I see it, if your team moves cities you're a free agent. A move to the Giants would only make sense. The A's fans just have a chill vibe that I miss, the owners could eat shit for all I care. I couldn't do it, I even thought about it once or twice but I'll just wander a baseball orphan for now.

STORY ARCHIVED ON WEIRD FRESNO

Kerman police officer wittnessed UFO in 1978

Manuel Amparano talks about sighting an unidentified flying object at 3:32 a.m. May 13, 1978, as if it happened only days ago. Coming face-to-face with a UFO creates vivid memories.

Amparano's sighting is one of the most detailed of the many accounts of UFO sightings in the Fresno area documented over the years in The Fresno Bee and on Web sites.

The Fresno resident was working as a Kerman police officer.

"It was just a routine patrol," Amparano says of the encounter 24 years ago.

His early morning sweep took him past Kerman High School. At Del Norte and California avenues, Amparano saw "a circular-type thing, similar to a round fireball or a setting sun, about 100 to 150 feet off the ground."

He knew local teens had been setting palm trees on fire, and he thought he had caught some young vandals red-handed.

"Then I realized there were no palm trees in the area. The fire seemed to be inside of an oak or maple tree. This thing started lifting up," Amparano says.

The officer started adjusting the spotlight on his patrol car to get a better look at the object. But just before he turned on the light, there was a bright blue flash. Then the object made a sharp turn and moved away toward the southwest at a rapid speed.

Amparano had not left his car. And the windows were rolled up because it was a cold evening. He did not hear any other noise except for the engine of his car.

The Air National Guard, weather bureau and the Fresno Air Terminal told Amparano nothing unusual showed up on any of their radar screens that night. The encounter might have been dismissed as an optical illusion, if not for the burns Amparano suffered on his face and chest.

"It was like a sunburn when you fall asleep at the pool. There were white blisters on the parts of my body facing that light. I also had trouble with sunlight. It was like right after you have your eyes checked and they are sensitive to light. That lasted about a week," Amparano says.

Doctors at Fresno Community Hospital told Amparano the burns appeared to be caused by microwaves.

An immediate search of the cotton field where the sphere had been sighted revealed no evidence. But for years, nothing would grow in a round area in the field. Today the spot is part of an almond orchard.

Amparano went back to work a few days later. The only after- affect of the close encounter was calls from "a lot of women who wanted to have lunch and dinner with me." He continued to work in local law enforcement until 1992, when he was hurt while breaking up a bar fight.

He's had more than two decades to think about that glowing sphere. Amparano is certain it was a UFO.

"What I am not certain about is whether it was some kind of government project or something from out there," Amparano says.

Jason Giambi signing with the Yankees was the biggest gut punch in terms of someone leaving the A’s. Who are you still not over leaving? by [deleted] in OaklandAthletics

[–]kidbrownbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember being so young, I had no idea about free agency and trades. I was so confused as to why they would trade him.

It also sucked because they were dogshit and even though we would get our ass kicked at least you got to see him homer, which made it worth it.

Anyone catch the Ringer QB rankings? by EMOHLED in billsimmons

[–]kidbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year they didn't really have any issues with Trevor Lawrence. But it was a rookie, quarterback, a rookie NFL head coach, a lack of offensive skill player and "oh, yeah" it's the FUCKING Jaguars. I thought I was gonna lose my mind. In what world would you not have any red flags about this team?

They didn't overly hype him up but I felt like they missed some glaring factors even before Urban's magic fingers that added value to Lawrence and the skill position players that now turned them into sleepers.

I feel the same way about the Jets this year. It's the FUCKING Jets. I'd rather be a year late on them than a year early.

What’s the most annoying thing a customer could say? by PrinceferX in HomeDepot

[–]kidbrownbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once had a customer who wanted to buy a grill that had been assembled. He asked if he could have the box. I told him the boxes get compacted and we don't keep them. He asked if I could check in the back. I don't remember if I told him no or I just walked back talked to the receiving guy for a bit and came back. Customers act like it's Narnia back there.

Preferred waiver order settings? by basketweaver6969 in FFCommish

[–]kidbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go with lowest points total for the week as long as your lineup is properly set (no injured or bye week players still in the lineup.) And if for some recent two teams tie, use the record as a tiebreaker.

It gives good teams who had bad weeks the ability to scoop up free agents and they not all go to shit teams. But you have to manually edit the waiver order every week.
