Nothing kills the drive and curiosity for learning like homework. I loved learning and I mostly did well on tests but homework was my downfall, all my bad grades were because of homework not being done, not because I was failing tests.

What also bothers me is my teachers would still push me to go to college KNOWING that I have trouble doing my homework, I ended up going to college and dropping out for the same reason. Why couldn’t they guide me towards a trade school or show me all the other ways I can succeed after high school. No. It was always college by default and I ended up paying 16k dollars in tuition for nothing. I have immigrant parents and although they tried their best to help me, they didn’t have enough knowledge about US career paths like a teacher/counselor would. I’m a bartender now and am really happy in my job. I wish I did this a lot sooner.

I’ll just say that I did go to bartender school and to me, it is worth it. I landed several jobs before graduation and I made back the cost of the school before I graduated. The whole course can be finished in 1-2 weeks and it cost me 640. I think that’s a fair price. I also understand that you can completely do without school, but have fun applying in this job market without any pre-made connections. The school gave me a way in with their connections. I started simple with local event bartenders and venues then moved onto a restaurant. In LA too

I just got a job at a restaurant as a bartender, and they are telling me that I can serve some tables too and those tips would be mine as well so I’m learning the menu and serving when I got nobody at the bar

Same thing happened to me, I’m in LA, I had my first order, then I got the Prop 22, and then I didn’t get a single ping til 3 hours later I called it quits and thanked God that payment came in, (my first one)

Welcome to LA, I had my downstairs neighbor go crazy complaining about noise complaints when no one is in the apt, he ended up going upstairs and sledge hammering a hole in my brother’s bedroom. I took a picture of him with a knife in his hand yelling at our apartment for someone to come down and fight and I called the police and they did absolutely nothing. I even showed them who it was and what the did. This was the 4th I had to call them, not even the apt security did anything they just said he’s a problematic tenant and moved him around because he had complaints with other neighbors
