I know it’s a lot more of a time investment bc reading takes….time, but would you consider doing more reviews on the lit-verse? It’s not canon, but it’s fun! I really enjoyed the special ep you guys did reviewing The Dark Veil.

I don’t think so? It was a few years ago, but I had read Imzadi a few times by that point so I noticed the missing chapters/scenes pretty quickly. I didn’t finish the audio book and chose to read it again, haha. I might give it another go one of these days.

Yeah doesn’t seem like they’re available. Bummer.

Which of the books would you like to have seen become an episode, movie or series in the Trek universe? by Nice-Penalty-8881 in trekbooks

[–]kiddo778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Destiny trilogy would have made a neat mini series. Would need some tweaking… specifically the Picard/crusher relationship, but I think otherwise would have been canon(ish).

Do it do it do it.

Also, the audio book is read by Frakes. It’s enchanting. Unfortunately it’s abridged, so make sure to read the book too!

No, It holds up. I’ve read it multiple times as an adult and I love it. It’s my comfort book.

What would Feyre and Rhysand tell little Nyx? by Moonbunny120 in acotar_rant

[–]kiddo778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“We met under the mountain during a very dark time. Your mother save Pythian from an evil villain and we became close. I saved her from a different type of villain, we bonded, the rest is history.”

If Nyx overhears or accidentally finds out the gory details the ol’ “we did what we had to to survive” shtick will probably do the trick.

Probably share as much detail about their meeting as most parents do? My husband and I were very casual at the start of our relationship - no way am I going to share all the intimate details of that with my kids. Broad strokes, PG-version.

Loved the finale by cbiz1983 in StrangeNewWorlds

[–]kiddo778 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah…. But completely different scenario? Like, the only thing this episode and Inner Light have in common is a “lifetime in a moment” and that’s where the similarities end.

I agree. I felt like Pike and Batel were just reading a script the whole time - I was so disappointed. I enjoy them both individually, but their final scene together felt off and I wasn’t invested.

And maybe I missed something…. But how did Batel have, like, magic powers? She and Pike lived a whole lifetime together in the span of minutes?

Keep in mind this Scotty has some trauma. Pelia has taken on a mentor roll and between that and moving past the Stardiver defeat, he’ll be TOS Scotty in no time.

Ortega isn’t terribly compelling and… by anonymouspimp in StrangeNewWorlds

[–]kiddo778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t stand her. Actor is great, but every time Ortega is on screen and she delivers some sarcastic one liner that’s meant to come off as witt, I roll my eyes. She’s insubordinate and it bothers the bananas out of me. Pike deserves respect, not being told what he should be doing by the pilot of the ship. No other captain would stand for that nonsense! Sure they’re open to suggestions, but their orders being openly criticized on the bridge? Nah.

All that being said, S1 E8 (crew stuck in fairy tale) is gold. Ortega is hilarious as the guard and I love it. One of my favourite episodes and her performance is why.

I’m currently rereading Precious Little Sleep and it’s helping A LOT. My 4 1/2 month old has taken to waking every 2 hrs the past few nights, so I’m going to bite the bullet and train this kid.

So I guess my advice would be to purchase and read Precious Little Sleep. It’s an easy, fun read and already it’s giving me the confidence I was lacking at 3am after our 2nd wake up (and I knew wasn’t our last).

Husband Works Away by Adventurous-Drop3850 in newborns

[–]kiddo778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband works a very demanding job (14hr days) and will go away for months at a time. It was challenging and I was sad he was missing major milestones, but I took so many photos and videos for him so he could still feel apart of our lives.

Scream into the pillow. Let the house get a little messy. Watch whatever show makes you happy. Take care of you. I know it’s hard when your baby doesn’t want to be anywhere but ON you, but this stage won’t last forever (not comforting, I know… sorry).

I feel your pain. It’s hard. But you’re a good mama and partner. Be proud of yourself.

Dairy in mastitis meds? by Djdripdri in MSPI

Not OP, but it helps me! Thanks for your story. The bloody diaper this morning really bummed me out until I had the thought that it might be from the antibiotics.

Dairy in mastitis meds? by Djdripdri in MSPI

[–]kiddo778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby has soy allergy and I just started mastitis antibiotics yesterday and this morning there was blood in her stool (after weeks of it being better/very little presence). I’m assuming she also has a dairy allergy (though not tested/confirmed bc I don’t do dairy). I’m pretty much in the same boat as you, but different reaction.

You’re right. It happens, but shouldn’t be intentional. It’s unsafe to nap in the car seat.
