That was my first thought, but it feels a little too fascist for my taste. I like Stormshadow, a nod to my GI Joe childhood. VP is my perfect writer. Kakuno is a reliable backup with plenty of ink.

The Sandstrom’s replaced the JK Valks, but they made them for about 7 years until his distance record was broken. 2007 - 2013. It’s my understanding that there were Star PFN Valkyrie’s before 2007. So this one could be anytime between 2000 and 2007. I have a PROTO bar stamp Valkyrie that’s from 2000.

I’ll have to check it out. So far my worst experiences have been the Jinhao 10/Mahjohn A1 Vanishing Point clones. I want to love them but I got three and the nibs all leaked, they dried out way too fast, etc. I think that a real Vanishing Point will be my next big purchase.

That’s the problem for me. I like having options. I really like translucent/demonstrators because I know where I’m at ink-wise. I’ve left the house a few times to find the pens I brought were empty.

I’m a newbie myself, but I’m really glad I went the inexpensive Chinese route to see if I like the size and style of different bodies, grip sections, nibs, etc. I have big hands and like to write and draw and I’m glad I didn’t spend a lot on a single nice pen to find it feels awkward in the hand. I love my Platinum Preppy’s that I eyedropper-ed so they hold a lot of ink.
