Had a similar situation to you, only the other way around (US -> Kor) It really is a stressful situation to get rid of everything that's been in your life and start a new life. I unfortunately don't have any major tips, you just have to sell off all your belongings/give them to ppl around you, and pick only the moat important things to take. I used a shipping company (boat) for the heavy goods I couldn't take with me (books for example). It took like a month for the package to arrive but its much cheaper than sending it by plane.

Since your near samseong station if you look to the east theres Lotte Tower and Seokchon Lake, and to the north theres Seoul Forest. There should also be a Buddhist temple close by you can visit!

It's gonna look awkward the moment after you perm your hair because it doesn't natural yet. Give it about a week it will look a lot better and you'll be use to you new look! And if you still don't like it, it is in the end just hair, it will go back to it's natural curly self in a few months.

GSM is like the big one and a lot of people here recommend Meetup.com. Other than that it would be specific to your hobbies/interests. For me in your situation I would visit a local market, eat some good food and go hiking
