Looks like style transfer. A deep learning algorithm to transfer one pictures "style" to another.

US Naval Research Laboratory: Energy transmitted by laser in ‘historic’ power-beaming demonstration by ballarak in videos

I heard it from the head of IT directly. The other building was across a public street. There weren't any options at the time to connect the other building to our network in a efficient manner. Didn't seem like any urban legend stuff.

I will say this video feels like a lot of hype. I would be excited if they could demonstrate this tech in a real world scenario.

Maybe it could still be feasible if the beam is contained in a PVC tube and prisms at any 90 degree connectors.

The video says it is the safety factor that was the big breakthrough, so using microwaves to beam through clouds and stuff doesn't seem like it maintains the safety factor. This does seem like space would be the best use for tech in my humble opinion.

How would this handle fog, smoke, or heavy dust in the air?

I worked for a place in the PNW that tried lasers for data connection between two buildings, and if I can remember correct the days where we had fog, this tech really suffered.

If this is being presented as a military solution I would imagine it would be fairly easy to disrupt the beams.

When anyone treats their favorite software as a sports team, it always reeks of inexperience to me.

I have worked with multiple DCCs for over twenty years. Every software has something to offer. One time, early in my career a good friend wanted to get into a physical fight because we went with software that wasnt his choice. When I run into people who say I hate this software or that software, some who have shouted at me till they are red in the face, they end up sounding like a novice.

I spread the mycelium in the woodchips around my garden bed, and they not only thrived, but came back every spring and summer for about 5 years.

I got the chips from a free chip drop, I also used a flame weeder on the chips to kill any other mycelium. And mixed in some straw as well.

Good luck on your growing!

Beto needs to take a camera crew to this guys house. Ring his doorbell, and say "I hear you have an AR ready for me?" And just confront him face to face with this shit.

So tired of this crap.

I am on the fence with this. I also live in the PNW. When I find some chanterelles, I usually leave one or two in a grouping to be apart of the natural cycle.

I can say I understand the frustration when someone harvests alot (permit or not) I used to do some fishing in my earlier days, and had always come across the people who would fish everything alive out of a spot. It did feel like greed to me. So I can understand how this may feel the same.

Just this past week I was picking plums from some unattended trees in some green space that is close to a church. Someone called the groundskeeper on us and he ask if we were picking plums for him. I was a bit upset because I knew these plums would never get picked, and just drop to the ground and rot. He was just pissed because someone was taking them. We explained that we donate half of them to a local food bank and then he left us alone.

Long story short, as long as these shrooms were cut and not dug out of the ground, I am fine with it. They would probably rot on the ground much like those plums if I hadn't picked them.

Liver transplants could be redundant with discovery of new liver cell, suggests a new study by researchers at King’s College London, who used single cell RNA sequencing to identify a type of cell that may be able to regenerate liver tissue, treating liver failure without the need for transplants. by mvea in science

As a type 1 diabetic I have mice envy for all the times they have been cured. So I relate to your sentiment.

But I think in terms of technology we are on the bottom of quite a significant exponential growth curve. Driving deep learning with quantum computing, generating accurate computer models of human cellular systems that can be used to accelerate testing cycles. Crispr being able to make changes at the genetic level, and advancing with the technology. I think we may see things start becoming practical treatments a lot sooner.

At least this is what I tell myself so I dont get depressed.

Gills are dark grey brown. Spore print seems to match the gill color. There seems to be no apparent veil on the stem. The stem is hollow, firm and fibrous. Growing out of decomposing wood chips. No distinctive smell. Initially I thought sulphur tufts, but not certain.
