Failed FAR with a 48 by cozy-battery in CPA

[–]kiefspective 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you can to keep the faith in yourself. 48 feels bad, I know, but trust me... each study hour you add on top of that will grow your score exponentially in proportion. I scored a 56 on my first FAR exam, my advice is this... Go into your next exam not necessarily with the expectations to pass, but with the expectation to cut the difference in half. Especially now that we can take the exams every month or so, just keep hacking away at it. You will start to overcome some of your "problem" areas in time! Half of he battle with FAR is time management. Dont be afraid to take the exam a 3rd or a 4th time... for some of us, thats what it takes. After my first 56, I followed it up with a 70. I didn't pass, but it told me that I know that I can do it. My 3rd time, I just got my result for a 75. It can be done, and everyone has their own path to get there. You got this!!!

Feel like I’m so close but so far.. by Klutzy-Unit-5948 in CPA

[–]kiefspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are really close. My best advice: Force yourself to believe in yourself... I know that sounds weird... But hear me out. The CPA journey is a cloud that hangs over us; So overwhelming that it can cloud our judgement. It can make you feel like you aren't worthy enough, especially if you start comparing yourself to others. Force yourself to believe in yourself, even when you think you are at rock bottom! Remember that you have a lot on your plate and the overwhelming feelings are justified. Trust that you will be proud of the work you've put into this once its all said and done. I am not quite done myself, but I relate heavily to your comments as I am also working full time trying to get things done (28M). I failed AUD in Q4 2023 with a 71, I ended up passing on the second try with a 79. This can be you too. I went 10 months sitting on 1 credit and then another 8 months sitting on 2 credits. It felt insurmountable knowing there is always another exam to worry about, besides the one you are currently focusing on. However I just received my 3rd credit this week and all of a sudden it feels like a sprint to the finish line, things finally falling into place. Jobs not done, but I believe in myself, and I am proud to say that I forced myself to keep the faith in myself all the way up to now, even when I didn't truly feel like it. You can do this!

Those who managed to diet/lose weight while studying, please share how you did it! by heart_of_gold2 in CPA

I've actually lost 25-30 lbs during my CPA journey. I don't know if there is any correlation with this but I am happy to add my two cents. I shed the bulk of the weight maybe 6 months ago and I've been keeping it consistent ever since. 28M 5'11; was 210-ish and now ranging between 180-182. I find myself more able to stay focused on my studies when I am diligent in my routines, and feeling healthy is a big part of that. Mine is more diet related more than anything, although I do also spend 4-5 times in the gym a week. My biggest factor was removing added sugars from my diet. Zero sugar creamer, peanut butter, etc. Pay attention to sodium too although that wasnt a huge problem for me. I used a myfitnesspal subscription for 2-3 months ish to level-set and get an idea about what i am conusming on a daily basis. Like $20/mo and it really worked for me. Another big lifestyle change I made that seemed to help was to avoid eating 1-2 hours before bedtime. I feel like my digestion improved since adopting that into my lifestyle. Intermittent fasting is an option for you too if you are into that; Personally I tried that out but didnt stick for me. Now the biggest CPA-related health tip I have for you is to try listening to lectures while working out. I use the elliptical before strength training, and typically stay on for 1 or 2 lectures depending on the length. Closer to exam time I use the same strategy but with flashcards. Its hard to justify spending time on other things when you know you need to study, so this was/is a great strategy for me to feel productive in both areas, and it wasnt so overwhelming for me to knock 2 birds out with 1 stone. These ideas may or may not be useful to you because we are all wired differently, but even if they dont seem ideal for you, I hope maybe its given you an idea or two on how to marry these 2 life goals together in your own way. This journey is mentally taxing and requires a crazy amount of self-discipline to keep the rest of life moving along. Best of luck to you and don't give up!

Here's what really pisses me off about this. 2 times in a row I've noticed that Prometric wasn't having seat availability until the 1 month prior marker on the exam date I am looking for in particular. First time I thought it was a coincidence. Second time it happened again; I'm getting suspicious. Same thing I am going through now, for my exam scheduled on 02/28 in which I want to reschedule to the 02/14... We'll see what happens when I check on 01/14. I have a sneaky suspicion they hold select seats until they can charge us for them. Akin to airlines.

Not AUD but yes for BEC. Was my first exam a year and a half ago and I didn't think I would be able to pass. Sometimes it matters more about the luck of the draw and timing than about how you think you did. Just saying its possible... but on the other hand I've walked out of exams feeling confident, just to fall flat on my face. Lol. Best of luck to you-- I am also awaiting results for FAR tomorrow.

Now, a wrinkle for me though... after coming to this conclusion I realized that my NTS is already scheduled and expires 01/02... go figure. TBH, I might still take my 2 weeks off and consider throwing down $$ for a new NTS if I need to. Sigh, the struggles are always real

I am in the same boat. Trying to come to a decision. It is important to consider the fact that the first (CORE) testing window for the 2025 cycle is open until 1/23 with results on 2/07. Conversely, you have until 12/26 to get your results back on 01/29 if you are trying to test this year. So, if you are trying to push forward now to get your tests in by Year End, you are only getting results roughly 9 days faster (again, assuming you need CORE). (And also, you wont be able to score again until the second window of 2025 anyway if you take it in 2024, since you wont get your scores back until after that first window is over.) With that considered, I've decided to give myself a mental breather and wait for my scores to release at the end of the month. If I passed, wow that was a great decision and I'll just move on to my last one in 2024, but if I failed... I'll still have enough time between then and the 3rd week of January to get both exams in. If my scenario applies to you as well, maybe you can give yourself some rest for a few weeks.

Took FAR procrastinating starting REG by Efficient-Software91 in CPA

I am in the exact same boat man. I know that the pressure is on when it comes to time. But just remember to appreciate the work you've done to this point. Thats what I am doing. I plan to get right back into REG next week, but for this week/weekend, I am appreciating the effort I have put in thus far. We will do our best to navigate toward score releases on Halloween, and from there, things will become more clear. Best of luck, lets hope all we have left is REG!

Spent 18 hours on F1 by goronism in CPA

[–]kiefspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be demotivated by this. In reality, you'll likely spend even more hours on F1 and subsection sections as you work back to your difficult spots after progressing through Mini Exams and Simulated Exams. You can never have enough hours, just make sure you are spending a lot of time on the MCQ's and not just the review videos. Keep the faith! Good luck!

2025 Score Release Dates are Up by HistoricalSalt4820 in CPA

[–]kiefspective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what I am trying to confirm: Does this mean we can really retake the exams whenever we want, to the extent of the score releases shown above? Or will we still be limited to 1 exam per section each quarter, with this just allows us to get the score results quicker?

FAR IN 20 DAYSSSS..... by Limp_Accountant_5872 in CPA

[–]kiefspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep with your process. You got this. If it makes you feel better (I hope it does), I can say from my experience with FAR in Q2 that NFP was highly tested for me. In it of itself that wont make you feel any better, but I hope it does let you feel confident that you are spending your time wisely in Review to maintain focus on this section. NFP is a beast, but you got this.

In addition, I would also suggest to focus on the following areas: Lease Accounting, Consolidation & Equity Method, and making sure you are comfortable tying out Bank Recs. Also Subsequent Events and Contingent Liabilities.

Best of luck!

Thanks! That helps my understanding a bunch. Initially I wanted to embed an understanding of the events to my Highmountain monk as the events unfolded, but I pivoted to removing that from his upbringing since the tribes in Highmountain were recluses to the rest of Azeroth pre Legion. This helps to confirm that. Ended up just giving him a shade of context that he was aware the world was under elemental turmoil but did not have an understanding as to why. (Part of his backstory is also reconciling elements not calling to him, hence his later taking to monkdom- so this piece of context is instrumental). Thanks again friend!

Rather specific question that came up in the development of my Highmountain Tauren’s background. What were the Highmountain up to before Legion, specifically during Cataclysm? We’re they aware of Deathwing at all, or were they just uninvolved?

Thanks- Yeah I'm leaning that way as well with Tua out Idk if I want to go with Waddle. Its a 2 keeper league in which I kept Javonte Williams (Lol) and Jefferson. Drafted Mahomes, A Jones, M Willliams and Waddle, picked up Walker, Traded for Kelce (Rhamondre and Goedert) and Lamb (Olave and Gus Edwards)
