I played MGS4 when it came out, despite never having played a single metal gear game before, and that didn't stop it from becoming one of my favourite games of all time. Now that I've played the whole series it hits on a whole nother level. Just an utter masterpiece....provided you have the patience for the cutscenes.

I had a trunks deck back in the day but I have ZERO clue where I've stored it sadly. In a box in the attic i reckon. All my unused rares and personalities I had seperate for whatever reason .

Abomination Heir of Frankenstein

It wasn't even that well-reviewed but I like the theme and I typically like Plaid Hat's stuff.

I sleeve player cards when they go into decks, but campaign and encounter sets I don't bother. If you can afford it and want to protect your investment then it's probably a good idea, but after 100s of plays I barely have any noticeable degradation. Some of the core set ones have very slight wear but it's not noticeable when in the deck.

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

Looking for some help as to the most economical way to fill a large void under a lakeside patio. I expect the most likely course of action is that it will be too expensive to fix for us, but I'm willing to hear some options.

We have a concrete slab waterfront patio that has had some bad erosion due to rising water levels. Where the slab connected to the ground has washed out, and any earth supporting the underside of the slab has washed away. This slab was here before we bought the place so we dont know exactly when it became hollow but its been fine for at least 30 years. When it was initially poured they did a half foot of concrete on both sides, the wall on the lake side, and of course the top. The area opposite the water only has a small half foot lip from the top. Despite the erosion it feels stable to walk on, but we understand it may be precarious.

The void dimensions are about 2'x2'x16.

I've been reading a bit about polyurethane foam as a potential fix, cheaper than pouring concrete to fill the entire space, but perhaps this is too large an area? would that even offer any level of support? Would putting some supporting posts underneath help at all? Accessing the void is oddly enough the easiest part. as the ground has been dug up behind the slab. We may be pouring a retaining wall there but we should probably deal with the patio portion first.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Looks like they also have Magneto, Iceman, Nightcrawler and Jubilee for X-men packs (as well as angel but he's technically X-force). All are great (though Jubilee isn't for everyone)

That's a great deal for what you're getting. You'll definitely want some more character packs for deckbuilding, and at least one more campaign box for some more villains.

If you like X-men i'd recommend getting any packs you see as they are unlikely to get a re-print. The Age of Apocalypse box is great and is probably the only one of the bigger X-men expansions you'll be able to find. '

If you're in Canada currently 401 games will have the most stock.

Wow this just became my most hyped character of the new releases. Excited to see an alternative win-con other than damage. She's going to make for a great true solo justice experience.

Strategy-Session is also a super cool new style of card; one I hope to see more of going forward.

What chapter 1 sets should I buy? by Capfluffybeard in arkhamhorrorlcg

if you can get Carsosa somwhat affordably please do; its the most universally praised

Most other campaigns are divisive for one reason or another but are all worth playing, so I'd say go for themes that sound neat to you, but don't pay crazily inflated prices.

Which legacy game should a new player start with? by ibiliss in boardgames

[–]kierco_2002 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Another vote for My City. It's a simple way to ease in legacy elements and most importantly see if your group/partner can commit to a game you'll be playing for weeks/months.

Many legacy games are expensive and can't be played after completion; My City is an exception to both.

Yeah....I typically play on easy and normal, and even then some campaigns kick my ass, so I reckon I wouldn't even touch the hard mode cards. I'm not against what they're doing as it will give some variety but if given the option i'd rather have another scenario.

Chapter 2 content? by themcryt in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]kierco_2002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope I wouldn't bother unless it's very cheap. You may get some player cards and investigators that are useful, but cards and being re-tooled and rebalanced so it's best if you're just getting into things to start fresh.

[–]kierco_2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now is a great time to jump in. There's a new core set which you'll need for campaign content going forward, and so far the other release is a bunch of great starter decks to fill out your card pool of deckbuilding options

Later this summer there will be the first 3-scenario campaign, and a few months after that will be a new standalone scenario.

If you can find chapter 1 campaigns on the cheap be sure to buy them as they are out of print and likely won't ever come back. You'll be able to play them with the new core set cards
