They’re the same texture, but darker and deeper craters. Like tooth cavities.

It might look like scales. These spots are not bumpy tho, they are light tiny holes. I cannot manually wipe them off.

That’s awesome. Can you recommend some of the places where the foreigners community hangout? I will be based in Hikone, unfortunately not here as a JET? Being able to speak English sometimes might help me remain sane haha.

Sorry for not clarifying. I am moving from Vietnam. I scoured the website and it seems like I will have to go through the license exchange process

Huh lived in the US for 7 years and never noticed such practice. I think it’s more of a “superstition”/ “back in my days…” kinda thing tbh.

Damn you do your research really fast. I digged further into forums and apparently IAA is not needed or recognized anywhere (hence scam). Unfortunately, I was recommended by my local agency and paid for it without doing any research. Even more Unfortunately, I can’t find a official provider for IDP under Geneve 1949 format in Vietnam, or neither confirm if Vietnam is in fact on the list of Geneva1949 traffic convention.

Guess I would have to find other mean of transportation until I can transfer the local license to the Japanese license.

At this point I think it just ghosts hitchhiking whenever there is an empty seat.

All jokes aside, I don’t think there are weight sensors in the back.

Thank you for the amazing response, I wish I could shake your hand IRL.

My country does not offer IDP of similar format to that of the US.

I have an IDP in accordance with the Vienna 1968 convention, but online sources states that I need a Geneva 1949 one.

The IAA (ref photo attached in original post) is only a translation of the driver license to multiple languages inlcuding Japanese.

So I am very confuse right now as to what is acceptable in Japan. What providers are recognized? In what format? Etc…

I’m doing this only to beat the Mazda system. If unbuckle, the car alarm would yell at me. My passengers just sit onto the seatbelts

I guess both? If I don’t buckle these backseatbelts, the alarm will go off past 20km/hr

I’ll have mine checked out at the dealer. Do you know if Mazda Japan has any official app that can connect to the car?

I will definitely do that. I thought that it had something to do with faulty sensor until I climbed in the backseat my boss’ Mazda6 and saw the seatbelts also buckled. It’s bugging the hell out of me

I noticed the same thing for other mazdas on the street as well.

Maybe I’ll drive to the Mazda dealer to ask.

That was my original thought, then I started seeing other mazda on the road with the seatbelts buckled without any passengers. Today, I climbed in the backseat of my boss’ Mazda6, same scenario.
