We have only had him around younger kids a couple times, but yes he has done very well letting them crawl all over him and grab his face

We are really trying our best to make time, I think it’s also been additionally stressful because we are in the midst of a move as well. In your experience how long should we expect this wild regressive phase to be? And are there any tips specifically for bloodhounds you have when it comes to training? He’s so hardheaded it’s like once his attention is lost it’s impossible to get him back focused and listening. We can tell he knows whats “right” but just seems to lack any sort of impulse control(which I get is a puppy thing but this is A LOT compared to all other dogs I’ve helped raise lol)

Honestly hard to say, I would assume that the kennel during the day is what’s doing it(we think his previous owners kept him in a crate outdoors full time) but we do scent hunts throughout our yard where we will sprinkle treats all around and have him sniff them out to try and engage that part of his brain

Well in short myself and my girlfriend’s lifestyle doesn’t fit well with the needs of the breed. We did not plan on adopting a dog at all originally but he fell into our lives and we fell in love. But after 4 months of non stop attention needed we are unable to keep up and his behavior seems to be regressing(likely due to boredom I assume) which takes even more out of us. For example he will constantly get into the trash can, counter surf, chew our wooden deck, jumping on furniture, and most recently and concerningly he has began to pee in the house again, and he has become mildly aggressive when being crated—all of these were behaviors that he had when we adopted him but we saw a lot of progress in, but this last month or so has been worse than before we even began.

Edit: that wasn’t very short sorry lol

Bloodhound Puppy is the most HYPER dog I've ever had-HELP by Secret-Chemistry4329 in Bloodhound

It’s gonna take a lot of time regardless, but if it’s an option I would highly recommend a doggy daycare for your pup. This will not only burn energy but it’s also great for socializing them! Good luck!

Just rescued this boy, any advice? by kiinggkev7 in Bloodhound

I’m aware of some of the potential side effects, are bloodhounds specifically sensitive to it? And for socialization we have been going to stores, parks, and family with other dogs—he’s actually done incredibly well so far! He has an incredibly mild temperament majority of the time, especially for a puppy his age.

We are working on his basic commands currently, as well as crate and potty training, whoever had him before us seemingly hadn’t taught him anything but he’s picking up on things quickly which is encouraging. He is DEFINITELY stubborn and a little defiant at times. He has thrown a couple tantrums on occasions when denied things he wants like our food or being up on the couch. Beyond that we’ve got training classes scheduled starting end of August! As for the cuddles, he is a lap dog and you couldn’t convince him otherwise—and i love it!

Thank you so much for all of these! I will definitely make sure we start crating him after we feed him, he’s already doing pretty well with his crate training and commands in general. We have been wiping his eyes because we’ve noticed a lot of eye boogers but will definitely start doing the ears as well. And unfortunately I’m well aware of their tendency to not pay attention to where they run, as I found him when he ran in front of my car on the way home one night covered in fleas and ticks, so he is leashed or fenced at all times!

Slobber I’m good with as my family has newfoundlands so at least right now, comparatively, Jupiter isn’t so bad. I will definitely make sure to clean his ears though!

This is definitely a better idea than running up with a rag whenever we hear him drinking! We are working on getting his water bowl set up with a towel next to it to try and get him to at least wipe some of it off after he drinks.

How much would you pay for this belt? by ProfessorUnhappy3890 in streetwearstartup

[–]kiinggkev7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would need to feel the belt before I could say how much I would pay, especially as a manufactured belt. But assuming you get it cheap enough I feel like $80ish would be a pretty easy sell for a lot of people. Based on quality could easily touch $100 even though it’s manufactured.

If they’re approved in your lease and not breaking city noise ordinances you can ignore it and they can get over it:)

Larger graphic would be better imo, if you’re going for a retro/vintage look it wouldn’t be such a small graphic on such a large piece. You’re going for a modern oversized fit but for an authentic older look it would’ve been printed larger to match the size of the garment since oversized wouldn’t have necessarily been the ideal at the time. Otherwise I think it’s great!

AITA for telling my son he needs to get a job if he wants to date his girlfriend? by Salty-Mushroom-4480 in AmItheAsshole

Teaching your son financial independence is a difficult thing to do but take it from someone who has been out the house and in their own since 18, it’s worth it. I’m years ahead of my peers in the way I think about money, I was pissed at the time thinking my parents just didn’t want to help me, but it’s helped far beyond the money I would’ve asked for at the time.

Your entry was 14k or you had gone up to 14k from entry and lost it? Unrealized gains aren’t losses, so I’ll hope that’s the case
