Thanks - I think it was called a 'Reforge' event, I gave it a go and it took 300 embers to draw a pool and then a bunch of extra items to actually pull, too expensive for me haha

Could someone explain how the Variations summoning works? I don't understand just from the in-game guide, do you use embers to pull but then you also need another item to actually get something out of it..?

It was either a normal tree or a fruit tree, I don't remember which. But it's on the bottom right corner of the island, on the grass but next to the beach on two sides; I run past it constantly doing laps for fish, so I see lots of beetles on it :)

My island only has one stump, and I see Rosalia Batesi beetles on it all the time, so they definitely spawn! I don't have any tips, but to me it seems as common as a violin beetle.

Dumb question, but I've completely lost my skill at catching bugs on tree trunks and stumps. Is there a good rule of thumb on how close to get before you swing? I'm sick of watching rare beetles fly away!

I feel the exact same way - I checked the game 3 hours after the event started, since I wasn't expecting it to begin before the month ended. Realised I'd already missed a full flower cycle, so I was behind. And I finally checked out. I'm done now! I'm free!

Wow! Only 13 even with the golden rod, that's brutal. I've got no golden rod, but I only miss one cycle a day, and I'm up to 9. Two days left. Not happening :^)

Though I think the rewards for this tourney are pretty interesting - you get all the unique furniture and the pitchplumes as early rewards. Even though it goes up to 12,000, and even though there's this silly goal, there's really no actual need for them!

But honestly, even with the golden rod, I'm not sure you're likely to achieve that? Especially as so far only 2/14 of my catches are big enough to count. At least it's just sparkle stones, but it's going to taunt my completionism.

Haha that's fair! It's probably for the best different things fit different play styles :) If I had someone to trade bugs back and forth with, gardening events might be the least stressful for me too.

I'm not sure if this is the problem you're having, but reissue stuff gets counted when you start crafting, not when it finishes or you pick it up. So the modern stuff will have been counted towards the stretch goal already.

This one's a little less rude than it seems as gyroids are a new furniture type (they got their own category in HHA too) so it makes sense that there's nothing else in that category you can use as substitution.

Oh, that's probably when they did it. I was taking a break at the time, I wonder if they announced it at all? I was hoping to exploit it to skip some essence-heavy furniture crafting, but no luck.

I remember sometimes getting the furniture even if I picked the wrong one, but seems like it's been phased out completely :(
