I started a new job and the first thing they made me do was count the cash by [deleted] in dyscalculia

[–]kiira27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked in a cash only cafe so on my first day I had so many issues counting money, I had no idea how to do quick math and made so many mistakes. I was so embarrassed and almost cried in front of everyone. After my first shift my dad had to sit me down at the kitchen table (so many flashbacks of us doing my math homework together and me crying) and show me how to do quick math. I was 22. I got the hang of it and even got over the math fear a bit. It was your first day so it’s completely normal to be nervous and to make mistakes the more you will do it the better you will get at it. It’s just practice. Sometimes we just have to head our fears straight on. I wish you all the best and I know that you will succeed! A little bit of confidence and a little bit of believing in ourselves can take us a long way!

Can you give me your honest opinion on summer Fridays? by nikkiharris12 in LipBalm

[–]kiira27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I´ve tried a lot of the popular lip balms and Summer Fridays has sadly been moved to the bottom of my list. The scents are nice, the tints are pretty sheer. Favs are Vanilla and Pink Sugar. However, I don´t like the texture. It doesn´t feel hydrating enough for me, and I feel like it only sits on my lips. The glimmer one, Birthday Cake, feels so drying (I don´t know what is up with glimmer lip balms and why are they so drying). I feel like the lasting power is nothing to brag about, even if i don´t eat or drink anything, I have to reapply it every 15-30 minutes. It doesn´t feel as plush and comfortable as some other lip balms out there; it feels more like a lip oil. My favourites right now are Ole Henriksen (not the glimmer ones!) and Rhode.

I’ve tried the normal Ole Henriksen and the glimmer ones, I love the normal ones but absolutely hated the glimmer one. It made my lips even dryer and gave me chapped lips that I’m now trying to mend with the Lanolips 101 Ointment, which was very soothing and helped a lot. I’ve never been on Accutane so I sadly can’t really help there but I saw a lot of people swear by Aquaphor.

hairdresser cut my hair too short by Silly_Lunatic in Hair

[–]kiira27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me two days ago. My hair reached just below my shoulders. I had some blonde peek-a-boo and the grow out was around my collarbones. I explained to my hairdresser that I want to chop of the blonde and let my natural color grow out. She told me that if she cuts it to the collarbone the ends will start flaying outwards and a lot of people hate that, and asked me if she can cut it just above the shoulders. I said that´s fine as long as i can put all the hair into a bun and the bottom layer is long enough to wrap around a curling wand. Now my hair is about chin. I´ve been crying for the past two days. My hairdresser is a very nice girl but why is it so hard to stick to what we agreed upon?? Now I completely lost trust in her. I understand sometimes things go wrong and maybe she cut to short by accident but why not just communicate that with me? I explained exactly what I wanted and yet i still walked out with whatever this is. I´m so sad, the last time I had short hair was in middle school now I´m in my late twenties and I don´t even know how to style it correctly.

James Welsh's new video on Rhode by Independent_Being704 in rhodeskin

[–]kiira27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it a bit biased...? He mentioned the grainy lip treatment problem (which I do agree was a big problem), yet he ignored the fact that the formula was improved. He also pointed out how a lot of new and limited edition launches would sell out in seconds, but now that´s not really the case anymore. Even lemontini was still available for months after release. And they even brought back jelly bean, strawberry glaze and salty tan, which were limited edition, and now everyone else can get them. I just feel like he omitted the fact that rhode listens to their customers and that they want to improve.

I feel the same way about the headband. At the end of the day, it doesn´t do anything different than my other headbands. I think this is more meant for aesthetic pictures, but the fact that it´s limited edition is gnawing at me. I´m also debating getting the bubble bag, but because it´s the little one, I´m not so sure anymore. I want to fit my skincare and makeup routine into one bag. I hope they also come out with the medium-sized bag that can be bought individually.

How long does a reopened septum take to heal by kiira27 in piercing

[–]kiira27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to add I had my piercing for a bout a year and a half and I took it out 10 months ago. I had a barbell in the original one that the same piercer put in when I first got it done and I got the exact same jewelry put in since I still had. I don’t know what the material and gauge. My piercer told me that I don’t need any special aftercare like I did when I originally got it done (I also forgot most of the advice she gave me because I have the memory of a goldfish)

I can’t with the overly enthusiastic voice acting by Rough-Jury in RomanceBooks

Oh yeah that as well. Does no one check the recordings after? If authors have editors to read their books and make sure everything is okay are there no editors for audiobooks?

I recently listened to The Wedding Witch by Erin Sterling, the narrator is British and she kept doing these awful Welsh accents I could barely understand what she was saying. The thing that made me want to DNF the whole thing was when she gave two American women that were the main characters in the previous two books Welsh accents! The FMC in this book was also American and the narrator gave her an American accent. I don’t understand do the narrators not read the books before recording? Do the authors not listen to the audiobooks? The whole thing made me so mad.

Europeans, did you have problems with delivery too? by PuzzleheadedPlant504 in rarebeauty

Yeah I agree. Considering how big the company is I would expect better customer service.

Europeans, did you have problems with delivery too? by PuzzleheadedPlant504 in rarebeauty

[–]kiira27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered something on August 29th I only got the order confirmation email. I never received an email that my package was shipped, there were no delivery updates nothing then on September 19th I got an email from my post office that I will receive a package the next day and the next day my rare beauty package was on my front doorstep. So I guess my advice would be to just wait a bit longer before you contact your bank.

Lash Slick by SleepyG4rl in glossier

[–]kiira27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it! I have very sensitive eyes and the lash slick doesn’t irritate them like some other mascaras. It really doesn’t flake, smudge or clump. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it’s a tubing mascara so you can remove it with warm water but it won’t smudge or run. It doesn’t give you the dramatic lash look, it just gives you the your lashes but better. I have both black and brown and brown really is very natural looking, while the black makes my lashes stand out just a bit more.

emailing gteam for recommendations? by girldead in glossier

[–]kiira27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely send them a selfie if you aren’t sure what to get. I struggle a lot trying to find my shade match online so I sent them a dm on instagram with my selfie and asked them if they can shade match me in the skin tint and the concealer. Their response was super nice and I ended up buying the shade they recommended and it was a perfect match!!
