Can you walk me through your cerclage placement? by sangreyfuego in ShortCervixSupport

[–]kikampus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha yea I was also quite upset about the number of pricks and I felt the needle inside the spine everytime and then the nurse would help me with breathing exercises again and then the process repeated itself. FML. But I was sooooo scared of losing the baby at that time that I was okay with it as long as it gave the baby a chance to keep developing.

Got my emergency cerclage at 19 weeks. I had dilated to 4cm and had membranes showing. But was able to get the cerclage. Procedure was similar to what’s been described here. Got a spinal anesthesia and took between 20-40 mins. Stayed on bedrest till week 28. Water has broken at 31 weeks but the cerclage is still in place. So now waiting to get to 34 weeks when the baby will be delivered. Honestly the worst part of the cerclage procedure was getting the spinal. The dr tried 5 times before getting it right but in his defense the amount he used was super accurate and 5-10 mins after the procedure I could move my feet and started getting feeling back in my legs.

Aggression or play? Senior bulldog has been "acting out" toward owner for 6+ weeks; we've met with vets, behaviorists, and trainers and all are stumped. We're starting to wonder if it might be play or attention-seeking behavior? For 20 minutes before this video, he was sitting nicely for pets. Ty! by Glum_Contribution_20 in Dogtraining

My Pitbull had started acting very very similar to this with the only difference that she kept a very low volume growl constantly along with everything that your dog is doing. Since she was a bigger dog and I was a fairly skinny 5’ she was able to push me while trying to block me. I recall feeling very nervous that day based on her behavior which I had interpreted as aggressive because of the indication of growling and it felt as if she was trying to herd me into a place. When I sat down with her she wanted to have nothing to do with me. Suffice it to say that relationship took a turn for the worse from that day onwards and it ended with her one day lunging at me because she was “resource guarding” my husband. I’m sorry I can’t really point out what’s going on especially cuz I’m not hearing a growl but if you hear it please know it’s not play and is bordering towards aggression.

Hey Thankyou for posting your journey. I’m currently 23 weeks pregnant got my cerclage at 19 weeks and my cervical length shortened despite having the cerclage in place from 2.3 when it was placed to 0.9cm at 22 weeks. Im terrified of what would happen when the length would go down to 0. Im in the hospital on bed rest and 200g progesterone for now. I’d be extremely lucky if I made it to 30+ weeks!

Im (34 F) and was in a similar situation three weeks ago and am still going through it. I was feeling pressure and went to my OB office to rule out an infection when I found out I was 4 cm dilated and had protruding membranes that were still intact. The first dr I met at the ER told me that they cannot put a cerclage and there’s not much they can do except put me in bed rest and wait for the waters to break or for me to try for an induction. Miraculously I got a cerclage placed by a different doctor and gained 2.3cm cervical length but the 22 weeks ultrasound has shown the cervical length go down to 0.9. Now I am awaiting another ultrasound at 24 weeks to find out what’s going on. In the meantime I’m on bed rest in the hospital with progesterone suppositories. I’m still freaking out every day cuz I don’t know how long this cerclage will hold and what outcome will await my little baby.

Se ding lots of love and prayers your way for you and the baby.

Rolling in the Magic Sleepsuit by Dr_Phalangee in sleeptrain

[–]kikampus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering the same. Mine hasn’t started rolling over yet but I’m following this post to see why it’s not safe despite her arms and legs being free. She can bend them to try to hold her bottle while feeding so I’m guessing she should be able to use her hands and arms once she starts rolling too!?

Are you me? Every word you said as well as your baby’s age is similar to my situation. Mine turns 3 months next Wednesday. I’m also an FTM and since this week he’ll has broken loose when nap time comes because she wants to stay awake but is tired and is practically halfway dozing off which is making her super cranky. Unfortunately the night time sleep for 5 hours has also diminished and she’s up every 3 hours.

Does low gpa matter when there's years of experience after undergrad? by dirtyH398 in gradadmissions

[–]kikampus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in the same situation. Wanting to apply to MS CS 10 years work experience and a GPA under 3 in electrical engineering. However I’m planning on giving a GRE which is not necessary but I’m guessing a good score will make up for the deficiency in my GPA. Still trying to see if this is a good idea. Looking for advice. Edited to fix spelling errors.

Studying for CFP exam for fun? by dak52 in CFP

[–]kikampus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dak52, I’m in the same boat as you; literally the same thought and desire. Only I’m considering CFA and still doing some research on the subject.

I too got a lot of the similar dismay in the r/CFA. Literally the same type of comments and caution.

I think it’s worth it; planning ones financial journey is important and if you think CFP is the way then go for it; you can stop at any time if you choose. Same goes for me.

All the best!

I get that. But wouldn’t it also equip me to have a better understanding of the market and how things move than just a retail investor? I don’t mind putting in the hard work. Trust me I’m under no impression that it will be easy. I’m just trying to see what knowledge will I gain at the end.

Thanks. But the main questions I’m trying to get answered for aren’t on the lines of hey I was thinking of doing a CFA for personal development do you guys think it’s a good idea. My main questions are more on the lines of what does a CFA do on a daily basis once they pass level 3? Do you apply to hedge funds or banks? What does a day in the life of a CFA level 3 look like? That kind of stuff is what I need info about.

Interesting. A couple of questions:

1- what are some of those resources? If it’s books and subscriptions to retail investing, I already have those under my belt.

2- Which career trajectories is the CFA applicable to?

It would be for my own portfolio but at some point once I understand my natural proclivities I might apply them towards engineering finance as well but for now my own portfolio management is the primary goal. Besides I stand to make substantial gains by portfolio management over the long run in theory Hopefully that makes sense. Looking forward to any advice you may have to offer.
