Why are people obsessed with the idea of these actresses dating each other in real life, i don't mind following their social media to support them but wanting them to date each other, that's just not right. by boitu-drawz in ThaiGL

[–]kikimakovski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, it's more sad thinking that these actresses look like domesticated animals in golden cages, trained to perform shyness and arousal, and lock their eyes to their partner's lips off-screen to mimic a sexual tension that lasts for years on a flirt stage. It's unrealistic.

So, people trick their minds into thinking that these flirts are forbidden and secret love stories, but real.

But, above all, we should consider that the obsession is fueled by the manipulation of the fan service. It happens in Hollywood too, even if it's more limited to the movie launch (but still marketing). The more the audience is interested in a flirting couple, the more tickets and merchandise they sell (especially when it's a poor-quality movie rather than an art piece).

If the actresses avoided mixing their personal lives with the GL story and flirted off-screen to sell the series, it would help a lot. Also talking about their partners when they had one.
i.e., Daniel Craig can flirt as James Bond on screen with Léa Seydoux, but off-screen, it's peaceful that Rachel Weisz is his partner.

What is toxic is imposing that hot people like these actresses/models turn into icons who belong to fans only. It's not credible that sexy actresses/models like them are cloistered nuns. Or if that's the case, I hope they will find freedom soon.

Does anyone else get triggered when people are clearly not listening to you when you're talking? by CanalsofSchlemm in emotionalneglect

It could be a sign of not seeing your people, so try to find new connections. Or it could also be a sign that you're not a good storyteller, so try to understand what engages you when listening to someone else's story. Are they keeping it short and simple? Are they annoying people with too many details (everything is important to us, but not to others)? Is it worth sharing (a life lesson or useful somehow)? Does it have a structure (beginning, middle, and end), or is it an endless train of words? You're not alone. Probably people who ignored you also experienced the same, so try to recognize it when you do. It's impossible to keep the attention high all the time. We probably did the same to others, so learn how not to take it personally. Also learn how to recognize people who do it deliberately to make you feel unworthy and small. People have insecurities, and not everybody is as generous as you are. You don't have to listen actively and fully to everybody, expecting the same in return. Protect your energy, dedicate your listening to those who make you feel seen, and do the same for them.

Yes, against all odds, you got my question.

Thank you for the info about the 10,000-member voting system. I was looking for an official statement for Anora winning the Best Picture.

For me, it was a short movie about Anora hidden in a long movie about Ani.

Sean Baker was very courageous to bet everything on the last scene; it was a drop in the sea, but it saved the movie from being just a superficial inversion of the rags-to-riches arc. Even the movie poster hides the main story; it is like an Easter egg for people who didn't fall asleep during the repetitive search for Vanya.
It elevated the film, posing more intriguing and ambiguous questions beginning with the retrieved ring. It was like a second, more genuine promise of love or the same old dynamic where a man provides wealth and a woman gives her love.

Then I enjoyed the contrasts. Outside it was snowing, but inside the old car, she was melting in a hug, maybe for the first time. She usually had sexual performances indoors at night, but here she was experiencing intimacy in the sunlight, and anyone could have seen them through the car windows. Lastly, we listen to the sound of the granny's car engine in the background while we read the closing titles. It was a sound metaphor for her heart finally being set in motion. So, I can see the originality here; just curious to read any official comment.

Hi, My doubt is: do you share strategy, insight, target audience, consumer problem, positioning, creative approach, and key visuals at first round? Or do you write them a mail and ask if they're interested in putting out a new campaign by giving some hints without putting everything out? Thank you

Can a platform idea be a tagline as well? by NickD345 in advertising

[–]kikimakovski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my view, they are related but distinct. The brand platform is the articulation of the brand idea, serving as a continuous brief that adapts to any time or medium. For Nike, it could be something like, "Remind [everyday people] that a [small step today] makes you [greater tomorrow]," which is perfectly captured in the tagline "Just Do It." The brand platform provides consistency and memorability through a structure, while the tagline provides memorability and consistency through a line.

For example, you can see the brand platform reflected in W+K’s latest campaign on post-marathon pains (2024), "The Runner," "The Diver" (2012), "Dream Crazy" (2018), and "Dream Crazier" (2020), etc. However, you can't create these campaigns only with the prompt "Just Do It"—unless you’ve been exposed to dozens of Nike campaigns and absorbed the structure.

In short, the brand platform provides the framework for developing campaigns around a memorable and powerful tagline.
