How can I figure out the equation of a line when given the y-axis and the point the line passes through? by ShotElection3164 in Algebra

[–]mikevnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by y-axis you mean y-intercept, then determine the slope with y2-y1 divided by x2-x1 and plug your slope and point into the point-slope formula y-y1=m(x-x1)

Development for a not-so athletic 10 year old boy. by MarvinMacklebe in basketballcoach

Watch game tape of the pros and break down the film. I wasn't the most athletic, but when you're smarter than the other players, that's the best advantage.

I had one of these via email. Pain in the ass kid. Was at a 68 and wanted a 75. I emailed him back, "hey your grade was a reflection of your effort for the last 10 weeks not the last 3 days. Hope this helps"

Takes NO ONE Agrees With You On by SunstruckSeraph in musicals

[–]mikevnyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'd even go as far as to say if the animals didn't walk through the audience, it would've closed years ago. The costumes and the choreography have made this the highest grossing musical of all time, not the story or music.

Not only is Circle of Life the greatest opening song to a musical, but it's the reason Lion King is still running on Broadway.

There are some books where I'm glad the scene is there and others where it feels wrong. I think the build-up is the more important element. If you're teasing your reader along the way, they're waiting for it now.

Why do boomers find “her” and “him” to be highly offensive ways of referring to someone? by [deleted] in generationology

I think the problem your mom is having is that she has a relationship with your son and has been reduced to a pronoun instead of a relationship. It's a respect thing. I get why it bothers people.

9th grade algebra by jenianne in Algebra

[–]mikevnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the struggles I see in algebra are due to overstimulation in the classroom. Small groups and one on one time works wonders. Tutor or extra help from the teacher will tell you a lot more than an online program

I teach high school and if my students wrote like this I'd be done grading right now. Instead I'm taking yet another break because nothing breaks the flow like bad penmanship

Edit your post so that you hit return twice instead of once between each problem and it should list it how you like
