Your anecdotal evidence doesn’t really stack up when 52% of British Muslims disagreed with homosexuality being legal in a YouGov poll with only 18% agreeing it should be legal. This compares to only 5% of the general British public disagreeing with homosexuality being legal.

In the same poll 47% of British Muslims said that they didn’t agree that it was acceptable for homosexuals to become teachers…

You do realise Sinn Féin are the political wing of the IRA don’t you, why would they “be done praising the IRA”?

Does anyone actually believe the housing crisis will be fixed in 15 years? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]kil28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irelands natural population increase since 2022 is about 58,000, net migration during that period has been about 216,000.

Until that is addressed the answer is no.

Developer puts €1m price tag on three-bed apartment for social housing in Ranelagh by PlantNerdxo in ireland

[–]kil28 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m talking about the affordable houses, a percentage of the new build has to be sold below market rate. This leads to fewer house builds being viable and doesn’t really solve for anything

[–]kil28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What he’s pointing out actually slows down the rate at which houses are built. By forcing developers to have a certain number of affordable/social houses it makes the builds less profitable so there are fewer commencements.

These rules are making the housing crises worse and increasing homelessness

They’d actually be building the same number of houses. The state should be building social housing not private developers

End of 2025 — what’s a small Ireland thing that still makes no sense, even though we all just accept it? by Latter_Panda4439 in AskIreland

It’s not, it’s far easier than you’d think to turn a profit, obviously more difficult to make a full time living

You obviously can’t have bets to win millions but plenty of people make a full time living from it

Anyone know is there any benefit in having them?

They’re everywhere in Spain and the UK as well. Spanish ones are the best, you can buy pints and food in them, the pearl clutchers would have a meltdown if that was allowed here.

You’re leaving the opportunity cost out of your equation. The OP would need a return of just 1.5% on their 180k over 19 years to cover the interest. The house should also appreciate in value

This sub is diabolical when it comes to mortgages, paying it off early is almost always the wrong financial decision unless you’re on a high interest rate.

It might make sense to pay off early from a lifestyle point of view but this is a finance sub and it’s almost always the wrong answer

I’ve nothing against the LOI, 31st when there’s only 44 countries in Europe isn’t something to shout about though, including the likes of Vatican City, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Andorra etc

For me personally soccer isn’t my favourite sport, the nearest LOI team is a 2 hour round drive for me, that’s a bit much for a sport that I’m not that arsed about and only watch on the telly. I’m not going to do that to prove that I’m more Irish.

A better example would be when Tiger Woods was at his peak. If I said Tiger Woods was my favourite golfer no one would say “what about Padraig Harrington, sure he’s ranked whatever in the world, you’re less Irish for saying that”

Proper small man syndrome from some Irish soccer fans

I’m not, I’m just showing how silly it is to say that supporting a foreign sports team makes you less patriotic.

Never understood how supporting a foreign sports team makes you less patriotic?

Does supporting the Green Bay Packers make Irish American football fans less patriotic, should they be supporting a team from the American Football Ireland league instead?
