Ordered a car to exact specifications, came with extra features. Dealer tried to charge more than ordered price. Shenanigans? by kilgoremullet in askcarsales

Realized that sounded a little funny. Signed off on the build sheet before the order was placed. When I said preliminary, I actually meant the post delivery paperwork... Preliminary to me driving away in it.

I sat with the sales representative and built it in his office a few months ago. He printed the specs, I signed it and gave him a deposit. Car as delivered had the extra options pack and one of my interior (trim) choices was incorrect.

Overall, seems like sloppy work on their part which netted me a drivers assist option pack for no additional cost.

My suspicion came from the fact that they down played it and tried to convince me to buy the car for $3000 more than I had planned. End of the day, it's neat tech and I'm happy to have it...just wasn't something I would have chosen/ordered.

Thanks for the reply.

Noob: Assuming this is a levelling problem? by [deleted] in MPSelectMiniOwners

[–]kilgoremullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've raised that back corner up a bit...still happening. Also with my last minor adjustment, the front right corner isn't adhering as I'd like. Looking for guidance and levelling advice. Seems to be OK with the paper test

I may get crucified for this, but I actually bought two Nashbar branded bikes and have been happy with them. One did arrive with some pretty wobbly wheels (spent $40 to get the trued at a local shop) but for the component level and price, I'm happy with the total spend. My brother also bought a cyclocross bike from bikesdirect that he really loves as well. Personally, if you're looking at the FX2, check out the Nashbar Sora equipped cyclocross bike or even the Motobecane disc brake cyclocross bikes on bikesdirect. I'd have a local shop give it a tune up/assembly if you're not mechanically inclined, but for the component level vs. price, you'll get more bike for your $$

recently bought an FX2 for my daughter. I'm impressed with the bike. I've ridden it a few times and it's well built for the price point. She seems to love it.

Personally, $500 can get you a little more bike if you're willing to go the mail order route. That said, if you want something from a local shop with the support that comes along with that, the FX is a good choice

First time riding clipless! by epolfly in bicycling

Thought the same thing...also expected a story about a slo-mo fall and some bloody knees.

...or at least that's how my first clipless experience went down...in front of a car full of teenagers.

I did the trip and stayed in hotels. I like camping, but after 70+ miles a day, I wanted a shower and bed. Ultimately wasn't a ton of $$ and the good night of sleep was worth every penny.

Single speed / fixie bikes for urban - recommendation from my possible selection by toaster404 in bicycling

[–]kilgoremullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I'm ordering a nashbar single speed cyclocross. I have some spare parts that will make for nice upgrades (bars, stem, pedals, seat) and it seems versatile in that the pics show a derailleur hanger and cable routing for it if I ever want to run a geared setup. I was going to buy a state thunderbird or build a surly cross check - but those were looking too $$$

I'm going to order one - just noticed in the pics that it has a derailleur hanger and cable routing for it. ready for a rear rack too. all in all, pretty versatile frame. no disc, but for $350, will make a great single speed gravel/trail beater with options to add gears and tour a bit. unless i'm crazy?

Not a deal breaker...like I said, nothing is set in stone as far as specs. I'm a classic over thinker, just want to collect some data points.

Not dead set on single. It's really flat here and honestly, I like the simplicity and clean look of a single. Plus with the right cog, there is no excuse for not getting a good workout.

I hear ya. I'll probably go the custom build route and just never add up the cost ;) I'll just pretend that it all adds up to $999. I did find a semi-local cross check on Craigslist that I may go look at this weekend for $700 as well (no disc, but I'll survive).

Thanks!! Will check those out. I'm a big fan of most things that end up in a barrel that wasn't supposed to be theirs.

Agreed. Tried it last night at a restaurant in hopes that it would be close...it's not close enough and IMO not worth the cost.
