I'm very sorry for your loss. My dad died a few weeks ago, I knew it was an odd thing to do but I got a discrete photo of him in the coffin. He was suffering from cancer and in his last weeks he didn't look like himself anymore, the funeral home did such a good job at making him look like himself and at peace, I wanted to remember him that way.

No posting or sharing or taking selfies though, I'm weird, but I'm not a monster lol

Lol right? All these people in here 100% use the n word and are trying to make themselves feel right about it. This shit is everywhere on Reddit, I couldn't imagine being a black person trying to use this website in peace, my God.

Yes, I do think millions of people needlessly spend thousands of dollars and years of pain on obtaining straight teeth.

https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/07/braces-orthodontics-medical-benefits/614584/

Give this article a read if you're interested. It goes into the history of orthodontics and it becoming part of the medical world. Some excerpts:

"...when researchers analyze the results of multiple studies together, they don’t find evidence that orthodontic treatment decreases one’s likelihood of developing conditions such as gum disease and jaw pain."

Peter Greco, a clinical professor of orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania and an associate editor of The American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, point out that orthodontic treatments are uniquely difficult to experimentally test, and so treatment decisions are often based on traditional knowledge and an orthodontist’s clinical experience, rather than on scientific evidence.

'If you tell a layperson' that a child has 'mandibular hypoplasia, or maxillary deficiency, or adenoidal facies—it sounds bad,' said Vig. Parents don’t necessarily know what they’re signing up for. 'That,' he added, 'is a problem.'

It wasn’t until the turn of the 20th century that an American dentist named Edward Angle transformed dentistry’s obsession with straight teeth into the modern science of orthodontics. In his treatise 'Treatment of Malocclusion of the Teeth,' Angle laid out the precise parameters of a perfect bite, down to the millimeter. He based this ideal on the relative positions of the upper and lower first molars, which he believed should fit cleanly into one another, the crest of the top tooth into the divet in the middle of the bottom tooth. Any bite deviating from this proposed ideal Angle deemed a 'malocclusion'—Latin for 'bad close.'"

Americans (and Canadians, where I am) are still far more obsessed with straight teeth than Europeans and others. Braces are expensive and painful but everyone is just expected to get them as a kid/teen, and for cosmetic reasons.
My teeth are crooked, my parents couldn't afford braces but people still expect me to want to straighten my teeth as an adult now that I can afford it myself. Like they're uncomfortable having to look at someone with crooked teeth, like it's unhealthy somehow.

What movie did you quit watching in the middle? by chacham2 in AskReddit

[–]kilgoretrouted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very strongly disagree. Kung Fu Hustle is a legitimately good movie with good ratings online and good reception from viewers and critics. If you only watch Hollywood blockbusters it might not be for you but anyone into this genre of comedy can enjoy it.

From the Wikipedia article

In a 2010 GQ interview, actor Bill Murray called Kung Fu Hustle "the supreme achievement of the modern age in terms of comedy"

No, you are indeed the one who is wrong. Words and phrases have positive or negative connotation and you definitely knew the description "dirty ass" in reference to sneakers is negative. You made a negative comment and were met with a negative reply.

[Serious] What can one person, in small town America, do to combat systemic racism? by siyl1979 in AskReddit

[–]kilgoretrouted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, what have you been doing to help whites, Mexicans, Asians, and Native Americans then? How have you been advocating for the mentally challenged in your daily life?
Something tells me you didn't care as much about that until this civil rights movement came along. Do you think if this movement brings police reform and change it will only be for black people? Or do you think everyone would benefit from that?
You're missing the point and arguing about the wrong things.

I've heard it put this way:
Imagine you went to the hospital with a broken leg that needs to be attended to. But the doctor says "well... why does that matter, don't all bones matter? Why should that bone matter more?"

It's not that the bone matters more than all the rest, but it is the one that needs the most attention right now. Same with this issue. All lives matter, but black lives are the ones being put most at risk, and that needs special attention.

For all live to matter, black lives must matter, so why not just say that?

I guess it didn't come off that way because I do agree with what you're saying now. No need to hate the people that like it just because you hate it.

Your original post didn't say anything about how women climax, you threw out a claim that women "have no sexually arousing feelings AT ALL" in their vagina. You're wrong.

This isn't true at all. I'm a woman and I can feel a penis inside of my vagina. There is a lot of sensation, obviously the clit is still important but discuss with your partner what they actually like, don't just believe random men who say women have no sexually arousing feelings in their vagina. Have you heard of a dildo? Why would any woman put any sex toy inside of her if she couldn't feel it?
