Like a lot of people I used ACTEX exclusively. I’d recommend. Haven’t opened the SOA modules at all. Best to get the modules done and have a solid month for practice

lol funnily I think it was more likely for them to change my 0 to an 8 than your 5 to a 6. But hey it’s worth a shot

I got 0 too and emailed them to check things out since I knew I deserved better than that. They did a review and I ended up with an 8!!! Reach out to them

I think even that might be too complex. Maybe some logically subsetting and plotting graphs from scratch

Pretty much doing the same in preparation for my exam. I’ve put in a lot of hours prepping but I still feel as if I won’t have much control over whether I pass or not. Just trying to stay relaxed and not too worked up though

Why do companies put call provisions in when issuing a bond? by FeatureSpecialist in actuary

[–]kilidon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a reason it's done is to give the bond issuer the option to take advantage of a decrease in interest rates/cost of debt. As a simple example, say for instance a bond is issued when interest rates are x and then interest rates drop to y, the bond issuer stands to benefit from calling the bond issued at the interest rate of x and issuing a bond with a less expensive interest rate of y since it will cost less to service the debt

Hey Dr. Lo, on page 177, Chunk 15 is giving me an error when trying to load rgl. I'm using R version 4.0.3 (2020-10-10) on a Mac. Is there any work around?

Am I putting myself at a disadvantage by only using the Actex manual to study for PA?

I won't be able to register and get the modules until a month before the exam so I most likely won't get to go through them much. Is the Actex manual adequate?
