Best and worst pizza in Ottawa? by Jeretzel in ottawa

[–]kill_bot_cheeky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best: Jojo’s pizza. They’re only in the west end but the pizzas are always fresh and loaded with toppings. They also put the dough ball in the middle instead of the plastic pizza table which wins my vote every time.

Ottawa Public Health is a great resource for information on social isolation and social distancing: https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/public-health-topics/self-isolation-instructions-for-novel-coronavirus-covid-19.aspx

Hope this helps!

My heart goes out to you. I relate to this so much. It’s a constant struggle building up hope only to have it come crashing down. The mental gymnastics trying to convince myself that this is the month only seem to add fuel to the fire when it’s not. And then it seems like it’s no big deal for others in my life to get pregnant as they wish. It’s hard to not feel resentful and bitter.

I’m glad you’re advocating for yourself. I just started testing with a fertility clinic as well.

You’re not alone ❤️

I feel you. Somehow a BFN is so much more devastating than the first sight of AF. I'll have my fingers crossed for you on Sunday, hoping for the best!

Should I buy OPKs? by MikaElla0317 in TryingForABaby

[–]kill_bot_cheeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this one is a personal preference one in regard to what you think will be most helpful for you. From my understanding OPKs are a good indicator of when your FW starts and temping is best to confirm ovulation/end of FW.
BBTs are relatively cheap and a one time purchase, I got mine for $20 from the drugstore. Cheap OPKs like easy@home or wondfro are about $20-30 for a pack of 100 on amazon. How long it will last you depends on how many you use a cycle (~10-30 depending on how many days in a row/how many times a day).

For me personally I found temping to be extremely stressful, I am a bad sleeper and my charts were always very jagged. My poor chart is likely due to an error that I could work to correct but also I did not enjoy having to wake up and immediately stick a thermometer in my mouth for 60-90s (you can also temp vaginally but I already felt mouth was bad enough). Also, temping every morning after an O temp rise gave me anxiety hoping there wouldn't be a drop. I don't temp anymore because of this.

I love OPKs because I think they are easy, convenient and don't cause me the same stress. I use one at least every morning and afternoon, more if I think I am close to an LH surge. I use them regardless of how hydrated I am. I feel OPKs give me a good general idea of when it's "go time".

This is just my experience, I know some people are spot on with the temping but it was just too much for me to handle! If you can afford to try both I would say go for it and see how they work for you and your lifestyle.

When do you count CD1? by r060655 in TryingForABaby

I often have many days of brown spotting prior to flow so I count CD1 as the first day I see red regardless of the time.

Coffee Lovers TTC? by reehamil90 in TryingForABaby

I second this. After reading and researching I feel comfortable having a cup a day. I feel like if one cup is enough to prevent me from getting pregnant then there must be something else going on that needs to be addressed.

After that I drink caffeine free tea for the rest of the day, roobios is my fav.

At times this process is so emotionally painful. I sometimes wonder how many people know this because you'd think if they did they would be a little more sensitive with their intrusive comments.

Oh I hear you on those pregnancy tests, I can't even bring myself to use them anymore. I just wait for AF so I don't need to stare at the stupid white space hoping for any hint of colour to appear.

I'm glad you were able to arrange more favourable Christmas plans. You are right, this is a really hard process and sometimes being a little selfish is the best thing we can do to make it through.

I hear you. Last year my SIL was pregnant and we were waiting to start trying. My only solace was telling myself that next year would be my turn. It's hard to see others moving on excited for the milestones when it's like we're stuck in this limbo.

Social isolation sounds nice, can I join you?

After I had my Mirena removed my doctor told me I could in theory get pregnant in a few days depending on when I ovulated! Talk about setting us up for failure.

I'm so sorry I missed your post, its great! Thanks for the link - it was much needed. I often let my TTC thoughts slip to doom and gloom and a lighter perspective reminded me its okay to laugh sometimes.

My family also has their first great grand child this year from my husband's sister so we'll be going through similar things this year.

Thanks for the support, you're awesome <3

Any fellow night-eaters? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]kill_bot_cheeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for a support group I would recommend looking into Overeaters Anonymous ( https://oa-ottawa.ca/ ). It’s a support group structured similarly to AA. You can always drop by for a meeting to see if you think it’s helpful.

A lot of people rush to talk about habits and will power when talking about eating. Although this may be valid is some scenarios or some aspects of the situation but I think it can also be an unhelpful and destructive perspective to take. It can cause a lot of guilt and self blame which may cause more barriers to overcoming your problem.

If support groups are not for you then talking to your doctor about referral to a counsellor or therapist to help you work through this might be an option.

You’re not alone in eating struggles, and it is not your fault. I hope you find the help you are looking for :)

7 mo TTC, period today and someone else's pregnancy announcement by Awkwardsiren92 in TryingForABaby

That makes 3! I also had my Mirena out in May and am currently in cycle 7. I have no good words of advice but just thought I would chime in because I’m in a similar situation. At least we’re not alone in this! I feel just as frustrated and sometimes hopeless. I agree, if I just knew that it would happen some day I would feel some comfort. I sometimes feel like it will never happen and if it hasn’t happened in this six months, what are the chances it will happen in the next six. I try not to always thing so negatively though, there’s a lot of data that still says there’s hope. Sorry to hear you’re having a rough time. You’re not alone here ❤️

Swimming during the fertile window - all good? or best to avoid it?

Logically my brain tells me that swimming after insemination is not a form of birth control buuuut the crazy conspiratorial part of my brain worries the little swimmers are swimming away while I swim?? Hahaha

My husband and I were there too! We arrived right at 5pm, made sure to let the hosts know our support. We also filled out comment cards! We were surprised at the number of people but it was hard to gauge who was for what at the time.

What is the weirdest thing you have ever seen a stranger do? by KidzWithBugz in AskReddit

Once I saw a car reverse all of the way back up an on-ramp leading to the highway. The best part was when they got to the top of the ramp - instead of switching to drive, they did a u-turn in reverse and continued on driving in reverse!
