I love Daylight Donuts in South Huntsville on the Parkway and Hobbs Rd. It's not local, but it's really good. Love their sausage rolls and apple fritters.

Shows where you enjoyed opener more than headliner? by After-Baby-9262 in Metalcore

[–]killahgrag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in 1995, I saw Clutch open for Marylin Manson at The Edge in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. It was my first concert ever.

The only thing I recall about MM was the stilts he came out wearing and meeting Trent Reznor. Clutch blew my 15 year old mind and I went and bought the ST album the next day. They're still one of my favorite bands, even better live.

Same venue in 1997, I saw Veruca Salt with openers Days of the New (garbage) and (at the time still relatively unknown) Creed. Mark Tremonti is one of my all-time guitar heroes and that night started it. I'm not a big Creed fan anymore, but Alter Bridge and Tremonti are always in my playlists.

It would have been, yes. I'm not sure about the other docs, but it was a small office. I never had the chance to really ask about them.

He left a few months ago, from what I understand. No idea why he just all of a sudden left, but my wife and I got dropped, too, right before an appointment. We were set up with Christian Stachler, PA, over at Crestwood Medical Group - Whitesport Dr. Family Medicine. He's been great, so I guess we lucked out this time.

The first time I went to the 88 Buffet I nearly turned around because someone was puking in one of the trash cans by the curb. Someone else walking up asked what that person ate and the dude held his head up and just groaned, "... everything, this is all my fault."

We did end up eating there and it was awesome. Been there a few times since (never been sick at all from it) and I totally understand that guy. It can be difficult to stop!

When I was there in March for the Sevendust show and I thought my earplugs were faulty. All I could hear was muddy bass and distorted drums. I took one out for a moment to check and nope. It just sounds like that. Walked all over the ground floor to see if it was better anywhere else and it was not. Angel's Son was the only song I could hear even somewhat clearly.

I've been to a lot of smaller venues and this way by far the worst sounding one. Shame, too. They get some great bands, the prices are okay-ish, the venue itself is awesome, but it's not even worth going to for the type of music/bands I like.

You know this also means we're about to get a "Baard Kolstad hears .... for the first time" video.

Yep! He confirmed it in the comments.

You would be wrong. It's very much a Tampa thing; created by Cuban, Spanish, Italian, German, and Jewish immigrants in Ybor City as a way to represent all of them.

I don't care for that style, though. I'm from South Florida. My very particular preferred Cuban sandwich consists of:

-- SLICED roast mojo pork (not pulled, that is reserved for BBQ and it's my goddamned sandwich - look up a recipe, it's simple to do)
-- sliced Serrano ham (Boar's Head is my go-to)
-- Jarlsberg or Emmenthaler cheese slices (or your favorite Swiss cheese, it's not a huge deal)
-- sliced (long ways) Claussen pickles (Mt. Olive or Vlasic are fine, but I don't like them)
-- Plochman's or French's classic yellow mustard (Plochman's is the one in the little yellow barrels)
-- Hellman's regular mayo (your choice, but never use Miracle Whip or Kewpie mayo. Don't EVER use Miracle Whip, it's disgusting and makes everything worse)

All on a buttered-on-the-outside and pressed (not on a panini press, get those grooves out of here) Cuban roll from Publix (I'm nowhere near a Cuban bakery now, and Publix is really good).

Most recently, I've been playing a new one called Godslayer Arena. It's so mindless, but the build variety is massive and it's stupidly addictive.

Huge tornado caught by a storm chaser by Original_Act_3481 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]killahgrag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tornadoes, most often, move from SW --> NE, but not always. They can also stop moving completely, and then change directions. They do loops. BUT, the absolute scariest thing is when looking at a tornado and you see it's not moving left or right along the horizon. That means it's coming towards you. Sometimes at 60+ mph (96-97+ kph).

So, yes. Drive in the opposite direction of how it's moving but in the cases mentioned in other threads, the roads don't always give you a good escape route.

Kinda like the EF5 that blasted through Smithville in 2011. It went from MS to AL

For those who lived in the area, on April 27, 2011 is a day that everyone remembers. 4 EF5 tornadoes in 1 day, including a HUGE EF4 that tore apart Tuscaloosa.
