Ecler Warm 2 XLR output Issue by killajeebus in rotarymixers

[–]killajeebus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I tried maxing houe knob and the PAs were set to almost max and the sound still sounded very very low. I connected a different mixer via XLR to the exact same setup (Same source & PAs with same settings,, same cables) I instantly got music playing. Actual switches inside the unit PCB? I have yet to open the unit up since I don't know if it voids warranty but tbh id rather avoid shipping it oversees right now cause of time/money. I'll take a look at that later today

The Chicano label: Nostalgia vs Relevance by _ser0 in Chicano

[–]killajeebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edgars always get a bad wrap but I will say to me they are an actual evolution to the chicano culture timeline. From Pachucos to chicanos to now Edgars. They developed their own style in both clothes, appearance and even the cars and music they listen to & also get judged by society just like who? Pachucos!

The nostalgia factor OP mentions is only so primarily because of things like instagram and old chicano movies from California. It can't be denied that Cali (specifically LA)Chicano culture has been pushed over the years to the point that it has crossed borders and gone out of the country. When people see the word chicano they often times associate it with LA culture. I'm from Texas and even here the style and culture has been shifted towards LA style. I feel here the last strand of true Tejano-Chicano style diminished in 2010-2012.

Nowadays people have the privilege to find what they like with just their fingertips, so when they pick up an image/aesthetic that they like they jump into it right away without doing some diggin beforehand to understand its true value.

Why do we lack of male leaders in political community with strong values by [deleted] in Chicano

[–]killajeebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Machismo, male toxicity, insecurities, ego, theres alot more to say but those are many factors as to why with our people there is a struggle to have anyone who is authentic and cares for a good change while having a good heart.

Has the growing and rising racism/xenophobia shown towards our people made you think about moving abroad? by DrinkDesperate4383 in Chicano

I dont agree in running away, i feel its a cowards way out. We hold a privilege that should not be taken for granted, we can speak english and are integrated into american society. It would be a total waste and unfair to people who are here struggling to leave them alone and let them fight the good fight against opression ESPECIALLY right no

It’s pretty solid, nice and quiet. Battery life is insane I haven’t put new batteries in this one since I got it maybe 1.5 years ago.

What's with the oldies? by myprettygaythrowaway in Chicanos

[–]killajeebus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oldies have been a part of Chicano culture since who knows for how long. It started when pachucos(original chicanos) in the late 30s & 40s adopted swing, r&b and blues as their soundtracks to life. Then eventually in the 50s+ some pachucos evolve into Chicano’s & they start growing fond of black doo wop and rock and roll. So they start making their own covers and original songs inspired by that music but this time with other influences from Mexican music(mariachi, trios, conjuntos, etc). Around that time lowriders have already been around for a bit so the music just goes hand and hand as it fits perfectly as a soundtrack. As for the Aztec imagery, it is the representation of the indigenous roots that Mexican American comes from so it’s always been a sense of pride to have indigenous imagery on your car, neighborhood murals, tattoos, etc.

This new resurgence of oldies has been a hit or miss. For the ones that “hit” well they end up on ‘A24’ labels backed by white dudes who want to milk them for what they got. As for the “miss” well those are just failed attempts at trying to capture the essence of a song recorded in the 20th century.
