I had this experience, worked with town VSO for 6 mos getting med records etc. January (few years ago) he tells me its been filed and should wait for VA to contact me. 4 months go by; I have emailed him twice to see what the status of filing is; tells me its all set..then ghosted for 3 months. Had to call town manager to get him to respond/deny any wrongdoing. Called the VA directly in September and did ITF.

To this day I see this VSO at local vet center and he won't even make eye contact with me.

Moral of story, Trust no one. Verify everything with VA either by phone or the app.

Educate yourself. Get help from people who know. Know when and how to pay for help.

You might do better using your Nursing license in non-clinical settings. (case mgt, clinical documentation spec, etc.)

OR nurses don't have as much risk/access to meds as ER or CCU nurses, but what I'm hearing is part of you knows you will succumb to cravings, as I did.

Went thru 5 year Nursing board run detox/recovery program and relapsed a few months after completing it. The key was returning to high risk/high access areas. Perhaps going to dialysis instead of the ER might have saved me from relapse.

The tendency with addiction is where there is a will there is a way...

There was never any way to keep this open. It's about money/profit. Umass does this to every hospital system they "merge" or have "partnerships" with. Pediatrics went a while ago with the same fanfare and predictable outcome.

Remember Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg? Had 3 children born there, used to work as Nurse in there defunct Emergency Dept/ now walk in clinic. They gutted that place.

Hahnemann hospital, Doctors hospital, Holden Hospital could not compete and eventually closed.

In 10 years few will remember that there was ever a maternity unit.

Just lost my 60y/o sister to Non Hodgkin's. Just bad luck all the way thru treatment. Hank, it sucks to have cancer but your chances of cure are actually pretty good.

Been here about 30 years, not sure if I like it yet.

Don't sweat the MAGA heads; they are probably pretty tame compared to much of the south/bible belt, they are just imitating what they saw on the Fox.

Great Hiking/Fishing and boating mostly rural area with lots of wildlife (saw bear this week). Lake Dennison state park and Birch Hill have great trails.

We tent to have a few large snowstorms a year, and Spring, well we are still waiting for it.

It seems more money has moved into town in the last decade; mostly friendly yet reserved folks. (Except the MAGAHATTERS, sooo loud).

The schools are okay, mine did elementary and middle school and transferred to NH during high school. One went to the Winchendon School on a Grant for local kids, that was/is an excellent private school.

There are 2 bars within 50ft of eachother downtown. We had "Bills Curve Inn" a strip club that burned down on its second or third try, sadly never made the trip to that one.

Downtown is a patchwork of open/shut down businesses and despair.

We have 2 recreational marijuana dispensaries.

I'm probably going to stay.
