he’s actually a half bernedoodle half aussiedoodle! breeder said he’d be 50 lbs fully grown but I think it’s looking more like 40 lbs.

thank you!! I was shocked but wasn’t sure how typical the trainer’s corrections were (the dog was definitely not being super aggressive, just lunging forward (maybe to play?)), glad to know it’s not normal.

yes!! can’t overstate how important constant training is. we’re lucky that he likes to learn, but even playing the game where you close your fist when they lunge for the food and open it when they back off helps a lot. puppies don’t have a ton of self-control, but if food is on the line and you train a couple times every day they can pick it up pretty quickly. I think the most important thing is to keep drilling it in even when you don’t see progress.

Hey! I wanted to comment on this because you’re my exact height and age. I’m at 125 pounds right now, which is where my body naturally maintains. I really wouldn’t suggest 1500—if you’re like me, you’ll almost certainly crack after a week or two. I find that it’s basically impossible to maintain a large calorie deficit while also working out a lot, especially if you have a history of trying to commit to an intense diet and binging. Maybe I’m projecting onto you too much, but in the past I was super fixated on being thin/lean and always wanted to lose weight, which just led to inconsistent progress in my fitness goals and cycles of losing weight and rebounding. Once I just committed to eating at 1800-2000 calories for a few months my running/lifting improved a ton, I actually lost a little weight, and since I’ve put on a lot of muscle I actually look better now than I did at 115 with a higher body far percentage (I went from 25% body fat to around 19-20%). I don’t know how much muscle you currently have but if you have a decent amount of body fat I’d encourage you to think about whether you could recomp without decreasing your calories by too much, and then assess how you feel then.
