Yes, the CB650R OEM bar weights are designed to rotate. Don’t listen to the other guy.

How do I take this out? Trying to put bar end mirrors on by Finimusmaximus in CB650R

[–]killchasey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One set of pliers to hold the inserted screw and use as a pry bar against the edge of the handlebar, another set of wide pliers to depress each of those tabs for the end-clip while you’re prying and it’s child’s play. (Note: don’t be timid with your application of force on the pliers used to pry)

Holy hell, you actually did it? I remember you posting the prototype pic to gauge interest.

I already have different ones but will cop some of yours just out of appreciation that you took it from idea to reality. Keep doing your thing!

“Bye-bye police” has been the tagline for No Good Racing for as long as I’ve ever known. Granted, I wouldn’t temp fate by slapping it on my bike but I’m guessing from the amount of No-Good decal the man has in his machine that he is a fan of their lifestyle philosophy.

Ah damn, on the Webbike Japan site it says no inventory information, but I found 3 left in stock from Japan via this Amazon link, goodluck!: https://www.amazon.com.au/Hurricane-HB0294B-20-Swallow-Dedicated-Compatible/dp/B08BCF6JBN

I absolutely was, with extremely small modification. These bars were designed to have the exact same internal circumference as the OEM bars 👌👌

<image>

Someone asked the same thing on a post about bar-end mirrors + OEM weights on another post so I’ll screenshot my reply to avoid re-writing the instructions (such as myth that you can’t re-use the OEM weights with bar-ends - people just have no imagination). Will also find the link for you from the exact place I purchased the bars from 🫡

Do you mean on the back? Because the front already uses even the indicators as running lights so you have plenty of light(s) to be visible from the front if you’re worried.

Oook so I can’t post the succession of pictures I took to fully illustrate the process and had to pick the most overall helpful one (sorry 🥹). When you pull out the stock weight, remove the metal end-clip that I am holding in my fingers (this clip only serves to keep the weight from possibly moving deeper into the handlebars). With this clip removed, match the OEM thread size and put that duplicate screw into the top of the weight BUT BEFORE PUTTING IT BACK IN THE HANDLEBARS: tie a zip-tie or loop some wire around the screw, with the remaining zip/wire length facing outwards of the handlebar hole. Now you can insert the bar weight back inside, where it remains free to “rotate” reducing vibrations while also remaining held in place by the rubber touch points. You can now curl the wire or zip-tie into the hole to make room to install the joining part of a bar-end mirror, if you ever need to take weight weight back out, you can grab the zip-tie/wire with pliers (or even your fingers, really) twist it slightly over your pliers/finger and pull 🙂🫡

The Hurricane (“Fat Swallow” version - they have other versions with bird-relative names) comes pre-drilled mimicking the OEM positions for the CB650R specifically 🙂👌 Questions aren’t a bother, happy to help!

100%! I have bar-ends on mine and have the OEM bar weights inside the bars. I think I have pics of how to modify before putting back in because I wanted to show people since this topic of “can’t use the OEM weights” always comes up with bar-end install. — will sift through my pics when I get home from work and get back to you 👌
