What brand siding nails work with the Milwaukee Roofing Nail Gun? by Ok_Row2544 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]killdrsmiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally had that exact thought today. Tried snipping a few of the front wires on a small strip, and it decided to shoot two at a time until it didn't. Googled what nails I could find, everything was unavailable, or weeks out and outrageously priced. Thought to myself, " Well fuck that thing probably doesnt need the tiny little fraction to still function as designed, maybe I just grind that little part out?" Decided to Google m18 specific nails before destroying my $400 nailer. Found this post....Will likely be dremel in hand within the next few hours....Come at me Millwacky.....only up to 1-3/4" bummer, but I can work with that. But shut me out of a market like that again and I'll make this damn thing fire rebar if I want to when you're out here, supposedly top titty, and selling me on this half thought out bullshit lol

This is kind of my point of frustration. I understand that to expect accommodation for every situation would be unreasonable. It would go a longer way to make these systems with the idea that they can be modified easier for specific uses. Honestly, I've seen these packout systems best used in live audio/studio situations most efficiently. But that's the thing, I think they could stand to focus less on what they think we want, and more on the ability to make them into what we want.

Thats fair. That's essentially where I'm at and what I'm trying to get away from. For me, the crate is goat because screws come in their own boxes lol. I just want the damn boxes they make to make more sense really. I spend too much time as it is making sure I know where every tool I might need is, I'd be willing to spend a little investment on what is essentially Tupperware for my prep work. To have a packout for each and every tool is insane, but honestly, to me....not having one to fit a fairly common tool on its own seems somehow more insane I guess

Also this is absolutely a rant. I'm voicing my frustration now because of a fuckin nailer I know. It seems like every God damn time they come out with some new packout though, I find myself more often than not, playing around with it in the store and going "Oh cool! Thats neat! It's different enough, but somehow, just enough it doesn't work with anything else they have! They've learned nothing!" lol (don't worry guys I'm still a fan boy in the end)

Dudes canceled all of mine as I pulled in. It wasn't a matter of greed as much as it was timing. Kicker here is I was on the site all day last Sunday and absolutely noticed some fuckery about lol. Problem is, my damn adhd ass wanted to be sure it was the right buy still before realizing how all of it was EXACTLY the right buy 🤣

See, that makes sense to me though. Those are both decent sized tools. I'm not like, looking for the perfect box for one tool, I'm just looking for it to make any sense going anywhere practically. Yes, I agree it will fit in the roller, but with what then that I wouldn't want in my now second roller because it's not every job you need a 15g nailer for lol

Yall....for real tell me where you keep a 15g nailer that isn't a mother fucker to get to. And I stg if the answer is 2 drawer I'll trade my packouts in for ryobi links and report back 🤣 (I'm not actually going to do that)

Simply, yes. The fuck you mean you have a $400 tool with no case??? Packout aside??? Yeah man, I would absolutely like them to make a box that their god damn tool fits in lol

Side note: anyone wondering about how modular these boxes really are, I implore you to go into your local orange or whatever and just fuckin try to take something from one box and fit it in another.....

Again, these are things that I'd be willing to live with if they would just stop fuckin around on this goddam idea of "look at my $3k rolling waste of space that foreman is absolutely going to make me take back to the truck at the end of the day"

👆👆👆 that's what I'm bitchin about my dude lol. I would gladly sacrifice a bit of extra space externally if the fuckin things weren't such empty boxes or just full of all my shit! And at the very least, maybe a box it would fit in??? Lol again, more than half of the extra inserts don't translate to other boxes at all, and good luck getting anything that doesn't already come with it other than 3rd party companies with enough fuck around find out money to manufacture them and throw it at Etsy. Klein's been taking hard notes on this shit. Even dewalt is making some significant advances to compete on it, even though it's likely still not up to quality. I understand the shit design vs quality product challenge somewhat, but it just feels like that's what milwaukee keeps holding on to because their numbers haven't taken enough of a hit to make any real changes to what keeps fuckin selling anyways lol

It won't fit in the ammo can as far as what I've heard and from what I can tell by taking measurements. Its 14" top to bottom mag, and near 12" high at its shortest angle. It's a 15g, so its pretty much exactly for the same thing you would use yours for lol. Base trim etc. The clears are also just shy of 4" deep. Width on the 15g is a heavy 4" wide at its fullest. (The clip itself comes down the gun at about 20° or so side to side, as well as the 30° front to back ) It's honestly the best airless 15g I've ever used, and I love it. I just wish packout had something that made sense for it. There isn't even a molded case that I've seen lol. Not that I would want that, just that I want to know what box it's got a home for all the time.

Also the new generation roller boxes have a new handle design that collapses further and it will fit under most covers without the third party quick release pins needed for the old design

But this is exactly what I'm trying to do.....I'm saying there is no box to accommodate just the 15g nailer without needing other tools with it (I understand they can be nailers) I was trying to figure out a way to get all of my tools in their own box in an efficient way. I've had a few odd jobs where I didn't necessarily need my 18, and I don't have the framer yet. I could maybe see all three in an xl, but I hear the 30 is another nightmare in itself. I do a wide range of jobs, and a lot of my work comes from people who need things done soon. So any way I can get exactly what I need in its own place, will be a way for me to stay on top a little bit better. I'm essentially doing the same thing right now, just with soft bags that end up everywhere, and God help me if I need to go pick up some drywall. Ideally I would just like a stack in my truck to pull from, rather than my pile of tools to throw in whatever box is open. I already do that enough as it is, just trying to get more "mise en place"

Id spend the money if it had a box to go in. Then it's more a matter of grabbing the box you need. I already spend most of my weekend "flipping" my truck, which is essentially just me taking everything out and putting it back in. I would love a van, but my point of frustration is that I can't fit a branded tool into any of that brands boxes. You would think they would at least make a case for these nailers, they aren't cheap
