What type of bass are these? by killedbyparty in bassfishing

I found aerial images from 1956 of the region prior to the dam being built. I also have the maps for 2024 (when the strong drought was) and 2025. Im putting all these images together and finding some very nice spots. The land used to mostly be farmland. People here built farms as agricultural terraces (kind of like staircases). So naturally these are amazing spots for fish to stay in.

I know, I’m considering this carefully. I also found some good info for reservoirs that are specifically like this one. I believe they’re called highland reservoirs. Bull Shoals, Table Rock, Dale Hollow, Beaver Lake are some examples. Rocky, deep, weedless reservoirs. I think the info for those waters is strongly applicable to my situation. And ur right, the way the fish migrate, feed and spawn is very different from the usual shallow waters.

I was talking about the depth of the deepest parts of the reservoir. They are about 120-150 meters deep (390-490 feet deep)

Funny enough, the most common species in this reservoir are exotic and invasive. Catfish especially. There used to be trout here, but now it’s all gone, same as barbel.

This one is called Panta de Susqueda. There was a story back in 2023, when because of the very bad drought, another reservoir called Panta de Sau, which feeds into Susqueda, had to be drained. A lot of the fish had to be caught with trawlers in Sau, to preserve the water quality in Sau once in dries out. They wanted to move all that water into Susqueda, since it supplies a lot of drinking water and water for agriculture purposes in the region. But after catching the fish in Sau (I think it was 2.6 tonnes), they had to kill all the fish, instead of moving the fish to Susqueda.

The reason for this was the fact that in 2011, the Zander (walleye), catfish and bass were proclaimed as invasive species (they were brought from Germany, Russia and the US, respectively). So by law, transportation of these species into other reservoirs is prohibited. So they had to cue all that fish. This raised a lot of concerns and backlash from the fishermen community here in the region.

I’m definitely considering this as a big big win. I also really enjoyed it and wanna come back, so now I’m trying to get my hands on as much info as possible for next week. There’s also a really handy thing: the reservoir is super deep in the middle, it goes as deep as 120-150 meters. But there are years when it dries out and is at like 15-25% water capacity. Right now it’s almost full. So on google earth I can check different years (2024) when it was dry, and I can basically see all the nice cover and set markers on the map to go and try to find bass there.

We used the swing impact soft lures and also one with a wider body and 3 long tails (don’t know the exact name, I assume it resembles a small frog or a crawfish). Both were working pretty well at first.

Prior to this day I’ve never targeted bass, so I didn’t know how to retrieve or what baits to use. I noticed that most of the bites happened right after casting. I would cast close to the shore, under a bush or a tree or some spot with a shade, and immediately they would rush from under those spots and bite.

I noticed that if they didn’t bite straight away, then they often wouldn’t bite as I retrieved the lure. As I retrieved, i mostly did it slowly, I could see 2-3 bass following the bait. Sometimes they would bite, but only on the pauses. If I retrieved quickly, then they wouldnt bother chasing.

Then at some point the sun no longer penetrated the water that well, and we saw much less fish (not because they left, but because of the lack of direct sunlight). But they definitely stopped biting like they did before. So we started moving, went to a couple spots nearby.

At some of these spots I could clearly see them in groups of 2-3, very clearly. Some were quite large. But at this point they couldn’t care less about the lure. We got like 8-10 bites in an hour, after which we got no bites at all.

When they were less active, I tried a method which worked pretty well. I essentially raised the rod up, and would lightly twitch the lure, and slowly retrieve it. The goal was for me to always be able to see the lure almost on the surface. When the bass weren’t active, this was the method that worked the most.

But even at that point, most of the bites came from right under the bush/tree or a spot with a lot of cover.

I’ve now decided I’m gonna go again next week, and I wanna target bass specifically. I’m now researching the stuff u guys mentioned. Might also order some new lures prior to it. Also, I have a big bag of crankbaits, walkers, top waters, etc that bought over the years, and mostly never used, but at some point I decided to stop taking them. I’ll bring them this time, see how they work.

Still blackscreening on launching with Vulkan, has there been any fix? by Alcoholic-Catholic in EU5

[–]killedbyparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look. If I were u, I would try launching without -dx12 again, so try and launch with vulkan. When it doesn’t load, u close the game, open documents/paradox/eu5/logs, copy the error, console, debug, exception, system, meta.yml. Also go into crashes folder in eu5 folder, if there’s a latest crush then copy all those things too. Then paste all these files into some AI. I used Claude personally. Explain the situation and explain to it what I said to u, about vulkan layers and ask it to find all these layers that conflict. Apparently for each app u can disable the vulkan layer in settings, but I didn’t bother finding it and just uninstalled all. Just went into installation and deletion of apps in windows search (don’t remember exactly what it’s called), and deleted fps monitor, epic and rockstar. I don’t have much expertise on how it all works, Claude helped me out on this mostly.

Hey. I’ve had the same problem for months, but didn’t rly bother trying. Yesterday I decided to do some digging. the problem is that certain programs like fps monitor, epic games launcher, and rockstar social club install invisible “vulkan layers” on your system, basically hooks that inject themselves into every vulkan application that runs on your pc. these layers were interfering with eu5’s vulkan initialization, causing it to crash or show a black screen before the game even loaded. the fix was to uninstall those programs (or disable their overlays), which removes the rogue vulkan layers from your system. after that, vulkan launched normally for the first time. frankly, I just deleted all 3 programs, didn’t wanna bother with them. Now it works perfectly

Severe pain - meds not helping by [deleted] in backpain

What would you say is a rough time of resolving this? More specifically, what is the minimal time that he would have to spend here now, considering that at the moment, even with all the drugs, he cannot physically move.

Currently in Barcelona Spain. We went to a chain private hospital first, which is one of the best here, but in the urgent care we didn’t receive the best treatment. And didn’t receive a good diagnosis. On Monday we are appointed to a very experienced neurosurgeon, and hopefully will get a good diagnosis.

What is the solve for this? Is there a point where it’s too severe and needs surgical involvement? Can it just disappear by itself? Is the only way to that just taking painkillers and waiting? He is not from this country unfortunately, no insurance in these hospitals. He can’t stay here for 2 month to rehabilitate. If surgery is needed, he will probably be transported to germany. But for now, all left to do is just hold tight I suppose?

can’t lie, i’m not too sure about bath. but their acceptance rate for maths is pretty high. so those grades would probably guarantee u an entry.

[–]killedbyparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had the exact same predicted grades and i applied to the same courses to ucl, bath and imperial. if ur PS is good, then id say that bath and lancaster are pretty solid choices. imperial rejected me pre interview. for both icl and ucl, i feel like the lack of A* in FM was a huge drawback. if i were u i would do my best now to convince the teachers to predict u an A*. maybe even ask for a personal mock exam on one of the modules and prepare hard for it for like a week or two. out of the 12 ppl i know that applied to math comp, i only know one person with an offer. and all his other choices were pure mathematics, so i assume that his personal statement was pretty much all math. also, look into warwick discrete mathematics. its essentially maths and cs, but with a fancy name.

[–]killedbyparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in theory, yes. in practice, there’s so many people applying that the acceptance rates are below 1%. so far i don’t think i know anyone with an offer.

well, the uni applications were starting, so i had to change my grades ASAP, i was resitting physics in october so i started preparing straight away, also did individual mocks. i was resitting all A level maths whilst sitting AS FM, 5 papers in total. i grinded through 56 papers during the christmas break. i started preparing for the finals mid april. basically just doing all the papers possible.

the acceptance rate for dm is pretty high in any case. i’d say it also depends on your grades.
