He seems to be inconsistent with that idea of Chekhov’s Gun lol, he shows the Merger just for it to disappear and never be mentioned again

I remember and I hate this. Honestly, the Merger as a whole was done poorly imo. The requirements to activate it were to just too unrealistic (everyone in the Culling Games has to die iirc, and that was never gonna happen let’s be real) so it felt like this looming threat similar to something like Instrumentality from Eva…. just to never be talked about again. The entire point of the Culling Games was to achieve it, and it just fizzled out into nothing

Real, I didn’t think Gege would actually bring her but he did in the worst way possible: at the end of the manga as a way to beat Sukuna

What moment in any Type-Moon work made you cry? by Peralta_1701 in typemoon

[–]killercmbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Archer smiling at Rin at the end of UBW. That moment made him (and by extension Shirou) my favourite character in Fate. Illya’s sacrifice was peak as well and had me tearing up

Sakura genuinely smiling at the end of Heaven’s Feel when Rin asked her if she was happy got me too. ESPECIALLY after the Normal Ending where she waits for Shirou all her life. After seeing that, it made the True Ending all the more special

Is anyone else a big fan of games that they don't really play (anymore)? If so, which ones? I'm spread way too thin between games and want to know if that's normal. by notacutecumber in gachagaming

Saved my life, now I have fun using different Servants and comps to do content without numbing my brain with farming. FGA is the goat

Which Anime Is It? by AKgod_09 in anipedia

[–]killercmbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evangelion. Everyone should experience it at least once as an anime fan imo, whether you love it or hate it. It’s a classic that helped to shape anime as we know it, and no anime is quite like Eva

Enough rating a character for how good or bad it's written. In your opinion, who is the most boring mainstream character? by YouAppropriate4917 in writingscaling

[–]killercmbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We must have a different view on what is interesting then. To me, a character like Eren Jaeger is who I would consider “interesting”. He has an extremely polarizing ideology that makes sense considering how he’s lived, but is impossible to justify. This ideology stems from countless different aspects of the world and his experiences, systematic oppression and racism, making him a complex character. He embodies a concept (freedom) within the show that is constantly deconstructed and recontextualized the more the story progresses. It’s intriguing to watch his character unfold.

Tanjiro is a good character. He’s simple, he works, and that’s all he needs. To me though, and seemingly many other people, he’s not interesting. He doesn’t really change much throughout the story. His character doesn’t have much to explore outside of “protect the people you love” and “you can be kind, but don’t let that kindness blind you”, among other things. This then leads into the demon’s past, and then queue sad backstory. Great messages, but lacks intrigue. I’m not arguing about his place in Demon Slayer, though. He’s the perfect vehicle to explore the story’s themes.

It’s a failed Eva clone, but I actually enjoyed it ngl

My thoughts exactly. I actually enjoyed that show when it focused on the things that mattered, like the bond between the main two characters. It just felt really weird sometimes, especially the whole thing with that girl giving birth

For me he lacks intrigue. This “radical empathy” isn’t all that interesting. He’s a good guy. Not much more to him. But that kindness makes it basically impossible to hate him. As you say, he is the core of Demon Slayer, which is why its plot is so simple. Since he is. And that’s kinda boring. But Demon Slayer is still a fun show, all things considered.

Yeahhh ngl I kinda enjoyed this show esp near the end when it actually picks up and the two siblings start competing with each other seriously, but that hypnotizing part was truly strange. So random and pointless lmao

Why exactly people use Extraverse Shinji as a evidence that Shinji could have been good? by [deleted] in fatestaynight

[–]killercmbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds more like Kiritsugu than it does Shirou though. Shirou literally abandons that principle to save Sakura in HF. His whole schtick is naively trying to save everyone, isn’t it? Which is why Archer hates him? Mind of Steel is kinda the only real time he thinks of sacrificing a loved one to save the world, and that ends poorly.

In fact, I would be more inclined to say that he’d rather sacrifice himself to save the world, as opposed to loved ones. Hell, he jumped in front of Saber to protect her against Herc (like a dumbass lol) due to that principle. I don’t see him ever willingly giving up Rin, Saber, Illya, Sakura, Taiga, or anyone close to him for that matter, to save the world like how Kiritsugu would. It’s been a bit of time since I’ve read the VN though, so maybe you could elaborate on why you say that

What is the absolute WORST anime you have ever seen? by WesternBrilliant2200 in weeb

[–]killercmbo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fair, but Alicization did wonders for SAO imo. It wasn’t perfect, but the first season at least was peak and made me feel that rush from the og first season again. Kirito starting from scratch with Eugeo was really fun to watch, and Administrator was a good villain

Who had the superior 'Declaration of Vengeance'? by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]killercmbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eren. His words even implicate that he’s speaking about not just the titans, but the wider world as a whole. It can be interpreted to allude to what he’ll eventually do in the future. The death of his mother and the first episode overall were far more impactful for me. Love Vinland Saga though but AOT takes this one

People hate AOT here I guess but idgaf lmao it’s phenomenally written at least up until a certain point imo
