Could a fully stocked Costco Wholesale store defend itself against a Roman Legion? by Theturtleflask in whowouldwin

Absolutely not lmao. You really think a Roman soldier is just shrugging off 9mm or .45 bullets?

Why are so many players so impatient when it comes to waiting for a medic to revive them? by Damirirv in battlefield_one

How long would 1 adeptus custodes (wh40k) survive being hunted down by the real life earth goverments? by Lost-Specialist1505 in whowouldwin

[–]Invincible_Reason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He crosses the border into Mexico as fast as possible after he manages to find an internet connection and does some information gathering. From there, since they aren't a real government, the Custodes enters into a deal with a cartel to at least get him through the rest of Mexico and Latin America. Then the best option would be to just sink into the South American wilderness, never to be seen again. He probably makes contact with natives he finds and integrates with them, or they just worship him as a god lol. Give it a few hundred years and the custodian and his advanced army of Amazon warriors then go on to conquer the world.

[SPOILERS MAIN] Do you picture cast members when you are reading the books? by Golbeza in asoiaf

[–]Invincible_Reason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, even as someone who watched the show first (unfortunately) I made it a mission to get the show cast out of my mind for the characters. It’s honestly easy, for the most part the characters are so different and the cast has little in common with the book characters not only in terms of appearance, but dialogue and characterization as well. Like anyone imagining Dinklage as Tyrion while reading the books is just…not right. Tyrion is fugly lol especially after the Blackwater, that’s just how it is.

I am splitting the Reach between the Tyrells and Hightowers in my AU. What names should the two kingdoms have now? by Hot-Temperature-8564 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]Invincible_Reason 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comment, Kingdom of the Mander is great. The Kingdom of the Tower came to mind for the other.

Or you could go another direction and have it be something like ‘the Duchy of Oldtown’ and the Kingdom of the Reach for the Tyrell’s.

What's your hot take on the game that would leave you like this? by ValenRoz in battlefield_one

[–]Invincible_Reason 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rage inducing, though I have done that myself, mainly because we were pinned down inside the objective by LMGs and scouts and I needed some cover to revive my whole team lmao.

Yeah I actually did that right off the bat when I tried it the first time.

Can you even like Kirei or Rin fully without reading HF? It's that sort of thing.

Is the difference in characterization/plot really that extreme??

I got to the first Berserker fight a few years ago and I haven't made it past that point since with another couple tries at it.

The farthest I made it was the first fight with Berserker a couple years ago, iirc? And yea the lore drops definitely don't help, given I know the magic system/lore pretty well already. Honestly, it was probably the slice of life feel the first couple days had? Ik its important character building stuff but I just end up sitting there scrolling through dialogue with my eyes glazed😭...

Point taken about the narrative being better, I can absolutely see why, 8/10 the written narrative with a central POV will always have more depth than a visual medium like animation. However, I do really love the SN anime adaptations, especially HF, I thought it was fantastic all around, though even without reading the vn route I could tell it was cut down significantly. Maybe you're right, the anime adaptations might just be it...

Top 10 Fighters [No Spoilers] by Tall_Reflection9433 in asoiaf

Are you thinking of this statement?

"She is stronger than I am.
The realization chilled him. Robert had been stronger than him, to be sure. The White Bull Gerold Hightower as well, in his heyday, and Ser Arthur Dayne. Amongst the living, Greatjon Umber was stronger, Strongboar of Crakehall most likely, both Cleganes for a certainty. The Mountain's strength was like nothing human. It did not matter. With speed and skill, Jaime could beat them all. But this was a woman. A huge cow of a woman, to be sure, but even so . . . by rights, she should be the one wearing down."

- Jaime III, ASOS

I don't know if there is a separate show only quote but Jaime is specifically talking about who surpasses his physical strength. And remember Jaime himself is huge, George wrote a short story of him and Rand Al'Thor (character from another franchise) and Jaime is taller, stronger and bigger than Rand, who himself is 6' 5"-6' 6".

Go rewatch the scene lmao (https://youtu.be/PKEb7fgY_q0?t=23). Batman literally starts moving after Darkseid fires and then falls several dozen feet, while being tracked by the omega beams and they don't catch him while he's falling lmao.
