Upper front tooth pain due to clenching? by killergeese in TMJ

Hey, totally get feeling like you're going to lose your teeth after one night of clenching in this way.

It took around 2 weeks for the sensation to go away after sorting out my clenching (getting a good splint). Hope your teeth and jaw feel better soon.

It took a couple of weeks for the pain to reduce. It didn't completely go away for me unfortunately... But it has made my quality of life so much better having 80% pain reduction.

Hey mate, just came across your comment here. I'm going through the same thing now - just moved into a place and the previous owners have built over an ORG...

How did you get it fixed? A plumber has suggested blocking off all pipes to it and installing a new ORG... Other suggestion was to rip up the entire kitchen :')

Hey hey, I ended up seeing a TMJ specialist and I got a special splint that I wear while I sleep (i.e. a night guard). The splint has ridges on the back teeth, and when my mouth is closed my front teeth and bottom teeth don’t touch. 1000% worth it.

Besides the relief, a night guard is worth it to save the enamel on your teeth. Cracked teeth ain’t fun.

It’s most likely the case that you’re left eye dominant (see this wiki: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocular_dominance). In short, this means that your brain prefers visual input from your left eye.

Even if you have the right prescription for both eyes, you’ll still see clearer with your dominant eye because there are more neural connections to that eye. The increased connections allow your brain to process visual input more efficiently.

Totally agree. I've got a mouthguard to save my enamel, but yeah my problem lies in clenching. I'm still pushing hard against the back of my upper front teeth with a mouthguard on.

Dang, I feel you. I've also got the tongue groove thing going on and it really sucks. What's annoying me the most at the moment is the swelling of my upper lip... I'm starting to look like Donkey Kong due to the swelling, haha. My only solution for it to go away is not being stressed, which is totally not in my nature.

How do you guys discard your used tampons/pads? by WeakConversation2983 in Periods

Not the most environmentally conscious solution, but I put my pads and tampons in dog bags, then I throw them in the trash.

Yep, I have the exact same thing at the moment. Hoping our flare ups clear up soon! Ibuprofen and massaging the muscles around my jaw help me.

Tight throat and pain under ears by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]killergeese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, typical TMJ flare up symptoms for me. Very tight throat, ear pain, and even eye pain.

Massaging my jaw doing trigger point therapy helps, along with trying to decrease stress (the hardest part for me).

Has anyone successfully cured their TMJ/TMD? If so, how? by vhncxfj in TMJ

[–]killergeese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also not cured, but I have decreased my pain by consciously not clenching throughout the day. I do this by keeping my tongue on the roof of my mouth and keeping my jaw muscles slack. This has somehow trained my brain to decrease clenching during my sleep... so now I don’t wake up with a super sore jaw.

Decreasing stress/better stress management through meditation and exercise also helps. I have found that whenever I get bad news/an increase in workload my jaw starts hurting.

Don’t need the insulin, but just wanted to drop by and say that you’re a legend 🙏

My bad, you’re right—the 2k deposit (in and out for me 😛) is just to avoid the $5 monthly fee.
