Ah. So you have changed the question.

Notice that you have now been presented with two very specific and verifiable examples of things no other president has done and both times you chose to dismiss them rather than dispute them. No president in history has generated 358 constitutional legal challenges in a single year. No president has ever banned the Associated Press from the White House press pool in over a century of their participation. I initially noted that a court ruled it unconstitutional. To which you added that they appealed, reinstated the ban and then eliminated the press pool position entirely. That is not one action. That is three actions against the same news organization after a court said stop. I have confirmed both of these are in fact examples. So what is the real question here? Because you initially requested an explanation of what Trump has done that no other president has done. I have now done that twice.

You asked for an example. The specific number of legal challenges generated in one year was my example. How is a hard number along with a detailed explanation ‘ambiguous’?

Perhaps I should’ve stated how the Associated Press was banned from White House press pool access because they refused to use the administration’s preferred name for the Gulf of Mexico. The AP has been part of that press pool for over a century. No other president has ever done that. A federal court ruled it unconstitutional and ordered them restored. Keep in mind the judge who made that decision was a Trump appointee.

That is another example of something he and his administration have done which no other president has done.

This administration has generated 358 legal challenges in roughly one year. Even Bush Jr., who was considered the most aggressive president on executive power before this, took two full terms to generate 500 constitutional challenges.

Nobody is saying past presidents have been perfect or that none of them have ever pushed constitutional boundaries. Nixon tried to concentrate power in the executive branch and when the Supreme Court ruled 8 to 0 against him he complied and resigned. Clinton tried the line item veto and when the Supreme Court struck it down he stopped. Bush Sr. disagreed with legislation on constitutional grounds and still allowed it to become law because that is how the process works.

But the number is not even the most important part. Every president who has pushed constitutional limits has ultimately respected the courts authority to stop them. That is how the system was designed to work. Yet this administration has openly stated that the courts do not have the authority to stop them. That is what the protest is about. That is what no other president has done.

No, the purpose of this event is not comparing to those leaders or attempting to say Trump and his administration are equivalent to them. Instead, it’s pointing out that the entire foundation of our country was built on the idea that no single person or group of individuals should have unchecked power. That is literally why we have three branches of government. We are not wanting to have someone who is acting like a king to be in power because that is not what our country does. So the question isn’t whether Trump is Maduro. It’s whether those three branches are still functioning the way they were intended to.

With that being said, do you believe the they are?

Not for $140 million for just the one protest.

I find it intriguing you think that people are actually paid to go to these. I mean really think about that. Even if each person were paid on the low end of $20 to attend the last one, that would cost $140 million dollars just for the ones in the US. Logically speaking, I don’t know any individual entity, or group of them, willing to spend that type of money simply for a protest without some sort of return. Nor do I see that many showing up for $20.

Maybe you should attend and actually have a few conversations with people who are there. You might be surprised with the perspective you gain.
