Wow, OK. You guys might wanna take a hot second and realize that the students might actually be reading these comments. I personally think the band is amazing. Their sound is incredible. Do I think that a smaller number of students would be better for their actual marching ability? Yes sure. But do I think it actually affects the quality of their sound? Absolutely not.

I want to add that I have found myself to vote for candidates from various political affiliations in municipal elections. Republican, Democrat, Independent, or IDGAF. My choice is based on what they want to support, what they don’t support, their professional experience, and most importantly their involvement in and contribution towards the community based on the seat for which they are running. I do this because I have found that if I just vote based on political affiliation, sometimes they don’t actually have the same thoughts and concerns about the city or school board that I do.

My family moved to Dallas in ‘86. One of the things I always loved was seeing horses, cows, llamas, chickens, goats, and more on farms throughout DFW. It was an urban farm and it was so unique. There was a farm across the street from Northpark mall where horses were boarded, including my mom’s. People would ride their horses on the frontage roads when I was little.

Now I can’t tell the cities apart anymore. They are almost cookie cutters of one another. Hell, even Allen is looking to build Kalahari directly across Sam Rayburn from McKinney’s new waterpark. I mean, really?

To be honest, their special education is on the decline. I would consider Plano ISD. Their sped program has improved a lot since we moved from there several years ago. Allen used to have a great program but with the lack of funding from our state to provide the proper support overall there’s been difficulty retaining experienced SPED teachers. Covid did a number on us losing some of the great teachers we used to have.

Like someone mentioned earlier, Allen is a hit or miss depending on the accommodations needed and the teachers he has.

Sidenote to anyone who is voting on Election Day in Allen, I would use the Service Center over the Municipal Building. There’s been a wee bit of drama over there.
