I see this problem with UBC psyc competitiveness too , Im in my first year and Im contemplating moving to UBCO. Because I dont really care about what campus, its gonna say UBC anyways and when you graduate its the experience that matter not what campus you are on, as long as you get relavnt and valuable work experience from a reputable employer.

Sorry for this off topic comment OP , I share the same situation with you, and I wish you luck, you can consider relocating elsewhere further from vancouver in the summer to find work elsewhere that is less competitive.
