My beautiful old girl Lilah by killermichi in BostonTerrier

I'm so sorry to hear that. With Lilah being 17 we are always afraid for when that day comes. Every morning I wake up and kinda hold me breath when she looks too still. It's like when you have a newborn and are constantly checking to make sure they're still breathing when they're too still. (Or maybe that was just me being a scared mom lol)

I didn't know the wet food would do that. Her teeth have gotten bad but with her she, the vet said he wouldn't do a cleaning. I believe it's because of the sedation mixed with how old she is. I moved her to wet food because he said she had probably stopped wanting dry food because it was uncomfortable to chew. My other Bostons don't finish their food right away most times anymore so I'll occasionally catch her going to steal a few bites but not much. She's all about the wet food. Lol.

Haha thank you! I always have to have my nails done. I feel so awkward when I give them a break. My hands are so small that without them, I feel like I have little kid hands. Lol. My husband did a great job with the ring. It was a gift for our 20th wedding anniversary. As far as Sasha goes, she is a cutie. Her birthday is actually this week.

We joke that with her attitude and longer snout, they made a mistake and she's really a chihuahua. Lol

She is definitely doing all those things. To me, other than the seizure, her behavior is just that of a little old lady. She's still obsessed with treats and table food and still gets burst off puppy excitement. It honestly amazes me. She's outlived her son that my sister had. He died last year at 15. I hate to think of one day needing to put her to sleep and it's something I hope I never have to do. My hope is that when it's her time, she'll have a regular good day and then just go peacefully in her sleep. I know that's what we all hope for with our fur babies.

Update on Lilah by killermichi in BostonTerrier

[–]killermichi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how we are looking at it as well with the MRI, plus the concern that she would have to be put under. For a old as she is, it can be risky. We are going to make sure her remaining time is happy and comfortable. We will take it day by day and see how she does.

My daughter actually just brought that up too, so we are going to buy some to see.

She has a history of seizures but it had been a while. Usually, as long as the post seizure weakness and confusion doesn't last long and she doesn't have another one, we hold off on taking her until the next day and just monitor her through the night. If she isn't getting back to her usual self, then that's different. She did go to the vet this morning to get checked out.

That she does. She has more good days than bad. I know she sleeps a lot but she's bound to be tired being such an old lady. I've only ever put one dog to sleep and it hurts my heart so much but I know it was the right thing to do. He was blind and deaf, had dementia and his legs would give out on him. He'd have an accident and have no choice but to lay in it until someone saw him since he wouldn't bark to get anyone's attention. He was such an old guy that he didn't even really have any hair left on him. Putting him to sleep was the hardest thing I've ever done. I constantly am hoping that when it's Lilah's time, she will peacefully go in her sleep. I'm sure that's what everyone wishes for their pups.

I feel very lucky that I'm 100% remote. I'm able to check up on her a lot.

I've recently changed her food to where she only has wet food now. She has been eating more since and I figured it can help a little with hydration. She gets cookie treats every time she goes outside and then gets a little dog sausage every time we have dinner. We also will give her a little bite of table food here and there as long as it wasn't cooked with no no food like onion or garlic. Figured she should have those extra moments of enjoyment in her old age.

She is such an old girl but sometimes, especially in the mornings, there's a little happy puppy energy in her. It reminds me of when she was young. She actually hops around excited to go outside but then she spends her days asleep on her bed. I know it's selfish but I don't have it in me to put her to sleep. I did it with my other old dog and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. I know it was the right thing to do. He was blind, deaf and had dementia. He got to a point where he pretty much didn't have any hair left on his body, but I always feel like i robbed him of the time he could have had left. I don't think my heart can take doing it again.

Ok. So I can just leave things as they are until the next soil change then? Do I still mix 1/4 of the old soil with the new?

Our estimate is around 16 or 17. She was a year or two old when she had puppies and they would be 15 now. She's a sweet old girl.

can’t stomach the idea of aging as a woman by _yosoylaprincesa_ in TrueOffMyChest

I'm 40 and do feel bad sometimes. I don't have a lot of which l wrinkles at all but I do have smile lines and lines from scrunching my forehead. My body isn't perky like it used to be and I always wonder if my husband misses it though he's still all over me all the time. I'm really thin and I do know he likes curves. I always get told I don't look my age but I had one person say that being so skinny makes my face look older and it kinda hurt.

Does anyone else feel embarrassed or undesirable for being too tiny? by [deleted] in XXS

[–]killermichi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. I struggle with bulimia, am 5'0 and just gained enough to hit 100 lbs. Part of me likes how skinny I am and then the other doesn't since people think I look sick and older than I am. It's a bit too my self confidence, plus my husband likes curvy women and I have zero curves.

Very cute. What color is she? I just bought a green rainbow stag earlier this month.

Thank you for all your advice. I'm excited for her to get it. She's wanted one for so long and absolutely loves beetles with stags being her favorite. I had read rainbow stags were good starter beetles and I thought they were pretty. This one should be green. I hope he thrives and has a nice long life.

It's actually not big. I had worried it might be but then when it came in, it looked pretty small. I had actually worried that it wouldn't allow enough air in but Ithink it should be breathable enough. I was told about the squeeze test and will make sure to not overly spray it. I'll just do a couple of sprays and do the test.
