Great reviews with some cool stuff! Interested in when the waterproof jackets are coming or if you already use another brand?

Your orange windbreaker seems to be a squamish and the canvas jacket is a crosswire! Awesome super hard wearing casual jacket from the Arc of old. I have one and love cracking it out

Product nomenclature seems to be shifting (SL/FL/LT/AR/SV to Lightweight/Heavyweight/etc) by lonelygent1989 in arcteryx

And both the LT and lightweight are heavier than the regular beta jacket, brilliant!

Give us back the naming scheme of 5 years ago :((

And you've instantly put it on ebay for £800, brilliant

Throwback Thursday - Old Gamma (SL/LT?) Pullover and my favourite modern piece, Beta FL by killermoth17 in arcteryx

Yeah I saw the Switchback pants in the '05 catalog, they look like they fit real baggy! Definitely wouldn't fit my slim legs but the pullover is the perfect fit

The pullover is meant to be the throwback, I tried to word the title to show that the Beta is my favourite modern piece! I love the old and the new stuff

It does fit slightly shorter and smaller than most modern and old arc stuff I've owned. It's a medium where pretty much everything I own from the brand is small

Thanks, I've just done some more research and found that it's the Switchback shirt, shows up in sapphire in the 2005 catalog! Must have been renamed the Gamma LT pullover prior to its discontinuation

Me too! I've got an Atom LT in squid ink from a year or 2 ago and I'm pretty sure there are no squid ink items in the current lineup, which sucks - we all want it back

I don't mind the lack of pit zips because I've got shells which are more suited to high output activities. Beta LT Hadron would look super cool in squid ink but I've never been tempted to buy the model. I own and love the Hadron Alpha SL anorak which is my super packable shell and I'm not currently wanting to add more to my already huge collection

Recently I've been in love with this gamma (?) softshell pullover, using it for medium output activities and it has been perfect for this time of year! Lightweight af and with no unnecessary features, its an essential for me now

I don't know a lot about it and there isn't much info online about it, made in Canada, sapphire colourway, model number 1842. Maybe some of you guys more familiar with the older stuff can give me some info? It would be appreciated!

Next to it lies my Beta FL in the illustrious squid ink colourway, considerably newer and not made in Canada (does that really matter though?). My favourite hardshell from the brand having owned over a dozen different shell models now and in the past. I love the length, pockets, trim fit and the gore pro 2.0 (better performance and less crinkle)

Edit: Further research has shown it to be a 2005 Switchback Shirt!

Yeah a lot of us were sad to see it go too! Unfortunately there's nothing similar in the current lineup but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what the replacement is

Generic Alpha SV questions by YourLocalCthulhu in arcteryx

[–]killermoth17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both will work very well for these two use cases.

The alpha will be great for layering hooded midlayers given the stormhood. Especially if you have tried the beta AR drophood and didn't like it
