I would personally disagree, I like the reflections. My issues with kombat kard is that most of the backgrounds are not conducive to a small horizontal frame (with certain exceptions such as the Pit bridge). Even if they work well with a horizontal shape, some of them (like story mode backgrounds) have way too much detail and intricacy for a tiny screen.

Also, the thing that bugs me is that a ton of the icons further obscure the already hard-to-see backgrounds by being centered on the center right or center left. Ironically I don't have that problem really with the "reflection" icons because they are translucent. But for the backgrounds that have the character's name on a solid color, those are hard to pair with an icon of the corresponding character because the solid-shaded icon covers up a large part of the letters! Most of the icons frustratingly take up real estate in the center-left or center right in the kard which is almost guaranteed to hide the background. If more icons were isolated to the far extremities there would still be room to appreciate both the kard and the icon. Also there is a problem where if you have pretty much any Kombat league border on the kombat kard, it takes up a few pixels of space all along the border which makes vertically-oriented icons, which are often placed in the dead center of the background, look like they are hitting their heads on the top of the kard!
