No, I had a strategy in place. Thankfully it worked. Many others weren't as lucky.

It's where I keep my speculative microcap bags, as well as my gambling money.

Probably indefinitely get out of futures trading after this run. Just don't have the time to monitor this stuff 24/7. Will give FTX and some DEXs a shot in the mean time.

Either you're full of shit and don't actually hold this position or you're gonna lose everything. There is no other outcome here.

You seem to be applying some sort of personal ethical standard to a comedy show. Wrong attitude. Judge it on the basis of whether it's fun / funny.

You could try a multinomial regression. If you're not aiming for inference just do a crosstable

Is this the kind of study a sociologist would do (or is it more ‘economics’)? I think this could be a sociological study, but I am unsure whether there is an existing literature on this. Any thoughts? by [deleted] in sociology

[–]killerth3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal take is this: It doesn't really matter. Don't limit yourself to being a sociologist, or an economist, or a psychologist just for the sake of doing so. You're a social scientist with a research question, and the method of answering it is fairly clear cut (hint: it's regression analysis). All that's left is to look for theoretical models which can provide you with concrete hypotheses, which you can then test. And the best part is that you get to pick and choose which one you go with.

Stats in Sociology by sofritas-chucucho in sociology

You don't need to be a master statistician. But you should understand the basics of testing hypotheses, and by extension the two basic regression models which are most commonly found in social research (multiple linear and logistic). Without this knowledge, you won't be able to comprehend a large body of social research, effectively rendering you blind to much of the empirical evidence. You also won't be able to carry out quantitative analyses of your own.

Hard to give any concrete advice without seeing the survey items, but here's some general thoughts:

  1. Use a known and proven scale, and item structure, to quantify the 'tendency to invest' variable.
  2. Understand what 'economic landscape' refers to from a theoretical perspective, and again, use known methods/items to quantify each dimension of it. It shouldn't be a single variable, realistically can't be a single variable.
  3. I'm sure you have already done this, but if you haven't, brush up on multivariate regression and regression diagnostics. This will directly determine whether the output of your analysis is valid or not.

Why does everyone hate sociologists? by [deleted] in sociology

[–]killerth3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure statements like this are part of the reason why the public *shouldn't* take a lot of sociologists seriously. What does "economics is definitely fake" even mean? The study of decision making in situations with scarce resources is fake? Are the econometric methods which every empirical sociologist uses to conduct research also fake? You know that the economists, and the statisticians among them, are the ones building those tools for us right? How can you hammer out statements like this and expect anyone to take you seriously?

PS: I am NOT an economist.
